It is there cyberland that she reveals her raw feelings about being trapped in a loveless marriage and details of her plans to leave Raven.
She puts it out there in her blog the question “how to leave your husband?” and the post goes viral and changes her life.
Women around the world become glued to Jess’s journey that is similar to their own and use the Gomez Girl’s blog to vent and as a means to connect with other women who are unhappy in their relationships or have lost their way in life.
They become united as Gomez Girls and start sharing their stories on their unhappy relationships, breakups and life struggles as women.
They express their desires to rid themselves of their surname that was taken through an outdated tradition when married and a wave of them change their name to Gomez. Others took on the name Gomez to rid themselves of the name of their fathers who had let them down. The name Gomez begins to represent strength and new beginning leaving behind the name they unwillingly took from a man: their husband or from a father that was long gone.
Through all her success, Jess focuses on her original plan of accelerating her death to end the pain she feels. From the onset Jess is on a mission to suicide slowly by eating preservatives, smoking weed and other bad habits but it's taking forever. She self harms to ease the pain from her past and finds this is her only real pleasure in life.
Jess meets wannabe actor Jack and they connect but both are in no place for a relationship with one another as the timing always seems wrong.
Valda is an PR agent who scoops up the successful Gomez Girl and takes Jess’s blog to greater heights.
Jess finally escapes Raven when she is offered a place to stay by her co-worker Roxy. Jess continues to share intimate details of her life including that of her housemates, Roxy and Diva’s drug habits and her own flings with Jack.
