This is the first western of Susan Horsnell's that I've read but it won't be the last.
Virginia and Joseph Glenmore are the matriarch and patriarch of a family with George, James, Ben and Laura. A very loving and close knit family with many non related members who are treated like family.
Jenny is a twenty year old girl who ends up in dire straits. Sparks fly between George and Jenny until they combust.
With some mystery thrown in this story is a true western adventure.
There are many other characters who pair up and already the reader interest is peaked with the need to know what happens to them. I look forward to reading the other books in this series to find out!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Cowboy Romance 16 June 2016

The Glenmore's: Revenge is a nice cowboy romance with some suspense spun into the story. While you have multiple characters deciding to court or see each other during the book, it's written in a way that's not confusing. The constant threat of the three men watching the ranch keeps you wondering where/who they will strike next. I like to read a good cowboy book once in a while and picked this one up on a whim, thinking it might be interesting. Well, I'm glad I did. It kept my interest throughout the story and I liked the strong female characters that were a bit of a contrast to the setting of the book in a time that women were just becoming more independent and many men were still resisting the idea. However, Virginia is a mix of both. I think she was my favorite character. However, I wasn't too keen on the idea that there were two women in the book who were essentially being called the same name with a different spelling. Virginia is called Ginny quite a bit and the young woman the Glenmores rescue is named Jenny. But I did enjoy the book!
1.0 out of 5 stars Desperately needs an editor 20 June 2016

This was a terrible book. The story itself was not that great and the writing was awful. That may sound harsh, but find an editor! I hope whoever she got to edit it, didn't get paid. Loads of improper grammar, punctuation and misused words to the point of distraction. If you want an authentic Old West western, don't use British English spelling and words when writing it. It was obvious the author wasn't familiar with the historical west, ranching, the way they spoke, etc. during this period of time. She made them all sound like they had no education and/or couldn't put two intelligent sentences together.

There was hardly any dialogue, mostly telling the reader what happened. She told him this, he told her that. Silly descriptions of things and the people along with little to no character development made this nearly unreadable. I had to skip and skim to the end to get through the misery.
5.0 out of 5 stars Book 1 10 June 2016

An old fashioned western romance set back in the times of little technology, you wonder how did they find the bad guys?...through blood, sweat and bullets.
I've read a few books by this author and it was lovely to go back and read her first book to see her growth. This book was so corny at times I had a good chuckle, but it fit the time of the story line and worked well.
The story is based around a family and this one centers around the oldest brother, his unexpected romance and all the drama in between. You'll find yourself caught up in the emotions of these wonderful characters. The descriptions are so vivid you will almost smell the land and see it in your mind.
I fell in love with this family and moved straight onto book 2.

This was a fantastic book. I enjoyed the way Susan developed all her characters and made them seem like very real people. Even knowing the story took place back in 1869, I enjoyed this wonderful family as much or more than if they were living now. I'm a very sentimental and old-fashioned person and I really appreciated the way people treated each other with respect and courtesy. This is an excellent book for a first time author. I plan on reading all the rest of the books in this series about the Glenmore family and the people they interact with. This book was a freebie through facebook and didn't require a review but it is my pleasure to honestly leave a very positive review because I enjoyed this book so very much.
