I have read all of Emily Barr's books and can truly say that this is my favourite, hands down.
It's written with so much empathy and beautiful sensitivity for all characters, that it is completely believable and I wanted to lose myself in this book at every available opportunity.
It's a superb book for any age. I can see how it would be great reading for a teen due to the age of Arty, the main character, but it chimes with any age, not dwelling on any specific age-related theme. It's simply very good writing and a compelling story.

I love Emily Barr and I've been waiting for ages for her to release a new one. This kind of book isn't really my thing but out of author loyalty I bought it. I must admit that I did not see that curveball coming, at all. What a great book even if it did take all book to find out.

Five star's for this book, couldn't put it down, the characters and the story was brilliant, truly believed I was there in the story, Emily again has written a fantastic story. Wasn't one bit in the book that I didn't enjoy. Brilliant a most read.
