This is set my own town so I could relate to the story and places. I actually read this book on my kindle some years ago and enjoyed it, so bought a paperback copy for my 93 year old Mum who actually was brought up near Poor House lane in Kendal and she thought it was very good. Freda Lightfoot has got the history of the town correct and the descriptions of the places spot on, a good easy read.

UnbelievableReviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 January 2019
I found this a difficult book to enjoy and found myself skipping past many paragraphs, hoping to find something a bit more believable. I looked at the reviews of the next two books in the series and decided to give them a miss even though I wanted out of curiosity to see out the story of Kate and her children turned out. No Freda's best work!
