From the manufacturer
For more comfort, even on the tenth shave, try Mach3
Gillette’s MACH3 has three DuraComfort blades that give a close shave, without all the redness**. The responsive blade suspension keeps the blades in close contact with your skin, and the pressure-adjusting pivot adapts to contours for an easy**, more comfortable shave.
Why choose 3-bladed over 2-bladed disposables?
Each of our 3-bladed disposable products has three progressively aligned spring mounted blades that adjust to the surface of your skin. All 3-bladed razors are equipped with a lubrastrip that provides easy glide when shaving. Their open architecture also leads to a better rinsing than a 2-bladed disposable razor*.
Gillette 3-bladed disposable razors
Spring mounted blades for a smoother shave
Gillette’s spring mounted blades adjust to the surface of the skin and provide a close and smooth shave. They also allow for water to flow through the cartridge and provide a better rinsing than our 2-bladed disposables.
The water-activated lubrastrip provides lubrication to your skin. It enables the blades to glide easily over your skin, giving you up to 10 smooth shaves.
Fin guard to stretch skin
The fin guard helps to stretch the skin and prepares the hair to be cut for a close shave.
Soft elastomer grips for control
Each 3-bladed disposable handle has soft elastomer grips that provide an improved grip, more control and manoeuvrability than a Gillette 2-bladed razor.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. How important is the number of blades for a disposable razor?
In the case of 2-bladed disposable razor vs. a 3-bladed disposable razor a third blade can cut already extended hair. Gillette’s 3-bladed products utilise Gillette’s progressive geometry and three spring mounted blades for a close and smooth shave. Gillette’s 2-bladed disposable razors have chromium coated blades for long lasting blades.
2. Apart from the number of blades, what are the key differences between a Gillette 2-bladed and a Gillette 3-bladed disposable razor?
Apart from the number of blades, the key differences between a Gillette 2-bladed and a Gillette 3-bladed disposable razor are the additional fin guard, the cartridge’s open architecture and the design of the 3-bladed razor’s handle. The fin guard of a Gillette 3-bladed disposable razor stretches the skin and prepares the hair to be cut. The open architecture allows easier rinsing than our 2-bladed disposables. Due to soft elastomer grips the advanced 3-bladed disposable handle provides better control and manoeuvrability
3. Is it better to use hot, cold, or warm water to shave?
While shaving, it is best that you use warm water. Although beard hair can be particularly strong, applying water causes hair to swell, which as a result makes it softer and easier to cut. When the water is warm, this softening effect will happen faster and more efficiently. Rinsing away stubble and shave debris from the razor is also typically easier when the water is warm. After shaving, a lot of men prefer to use a splash of cold water on their face. Rinsing with cold water can have a soothing effect, especially when the skin feels hot or is experiencing a burning sensation after shaving.
4. In what direction should I shave to achieve the best shave?
Men's facial hair tends to grow in different directions. Start by shaving with light, gentle strokes with the grain. Then, if necessary, go against the grain for an even closer shave.
5. What is the best way to avoid razor burn?
If the skin is not properly prepared before shaving or if the blade on your razor is dull, you are more likely to end up with razor burn. Make sure to hydrate hair in warm water for up to three minutes and apply plenty of shave gel. Also, you may want to consider changing your disposable razor at the first sign of dullness or discomfort.

The improvement in shaving going from one blade to two is huge, from two to three is certainly smaller but still noticeable. Now I'm wondering, where exactly does the law of diminishing returns make any improvement unnoticeable? Four blades? Five? Is it possible Gillette, Shick and Bic haven't been totally blowing smoke all these years? Good God, is that the world shaking on its foundations?
