"The Ghostwriter brilliantly illustrates Alessandra Torre's talent for the mysterious and the suspenseful. I could not put this book down, even to pick up my jaw. This book is an insane roller coaster ride through one betrayal and twist after another." New York Times Bestseller CD Reiss

Helena had the perfect family - husband, Simon and beautiful daughter, Bethany. She's a successful romance author. Both husband and daughter are gone and Helena is dying of cancer, but she has one more book to write. She has to tell the truth...
It's a journey into a psyche of someone that has no time left. That wants to get their truth out there despite the pain and the incriminations... so she hires “The Ghostwriter” her arch nemesis...
‘A part of me fears the passing of the torch, exposing my secrets, telling him everything. A part of me fears how, in the final novel, I will come across. A part of me is terrified. The rest feels almost giddy with liberation. Soon… my final story will come out, and everyone will know the truth.’
Alessandra Torre created a masterpiece in the character of Helena as she is both part villain and part victim. And Mark Fortune? The Ghostwriter... I fell in love with him right away.
Get the tissues, strap yourself in, this is wonderful....
We are taken on a roller coaster ride of emotions and I must say it was a steady, slow climb in which it gives you time to savour the ride.
Helens story is sad to read. I laughed with her, cried with her and felt her pain.
Thanks Alessandra for a fantastic read
The ending left me totally gob smacked and wanting more. Highly recommend this excellent read.
This compelling story had me hooked from the very beginning even though the main character, Helena, was a harsh, no nonsense, ruling setting person. As the story unfolds, so do her walls (slowly) and you can see why she is the way she is. The relationships between her, Mark and Kate is a delight to watch progress and alter.
There’s some heavy topics throughout this book but all are dealt with so expertly in Alessandra’s hands. There are twists and some heartbreaking revelations but above all, a story that you can’t put down.

This is not a love story and there is no HEA if you are looking for one. It’s raw, it’s real, it’s ugly and twisted, and it will leave you with a bitter taste at the end. I loved the story although it was difficult to read. It started a bit slow, the ending was revealed in advance, but the events that lead to it weren’t clear. It kept me guessing, it kept me wondering, it kept me intrigued right till the very end where the ugly truth was finally told. It took me by surprise and I wasn’t expecting the direction the story took but little by little I understood the motives, the actions, the painful circumstances that lead to this gut-wrenching ending. This didn’t make it any easier to read. It was devastating and it left me a bit depressed. Yes, there was some kind of closure to the whole story, but it couldn’t change the outcome.
This book made me question a lot of things – I’m not going in details about it, not to spoil the story for anyone, but probably I would have done the same exact thing as Helena, given the circumstances. However, the whole book still left a painful feeling inside of me. It was good, but if you’re looking for something sweet, light and drama free, stay away from it. If you want a realistic, heartbreaking story, then go for it. It’s drama-packed and devastating. Not exactly my kind of fun, but it was well written, with some twists and turns I didn’t see coming and an intriguing story to keep your interest to the very end.
I would have been a complete and utter weepy mess on the tube the next day. It struck a cord, causing my heart to ache, and my breath to hitch, I couldn't help but feel empathy for Helena Ross, the ending so powerful, it was beautifully heartbreaking, the whole book was so well executed, how could I not shed tears.
Alessandra leaves tiny snippets, and clues as the story progresses, being quite intuitive I tend to figure out plots, part of which I found to be correct but it only spurred me on to keep reading. I needed to get to the end, for the final piece of the puzzle to fall into place, and when it did, it was pure literacy genius.
This is definitely one of my favourite reads to date, I know for a fact that I'll be reading this book again. The story will stay with you well after you turn the final page, I'm just flabbergasted that this is the first book that I've ever read by this author, but so thankful that I 1-clicked on Amazon.
I don't want to say to much and spoil it, but this is one of them stories that plays with your mind as you try to figure it out, as this book is suspenseful! I also found it emotional and had tears running down my face. This story is brilliantly written and would recommend it to be read.
Not a love story or a thriller or erotica but something wonderful. Ms Torre is a brilliant writer and she writes amazing books but i have no clue how she came up with this one. I did wonder what the ending would bring and what a shocker before the finale. I didn't see that coming at all. However the last few pages are exceptionally written with much compassion. One of her best.
