Product Description

They’re big. They’re hot. And they play hard.

In the kickoff to Serena Bell’s sexy new football romance series, the heat between a female coach and a cocky linebacker turns the Seattle Grizzlies locker room upside down.

Iona: There’s nothing like the rush of going head-to-head with the boys. Football is my life, and I got my new job with the Seattle Grizzlies because I know how to play rough. But as a woman in a man’s game, I can’t afford any distractions—like panty-melting tabloid darling Ty Williams, my star linebacker. I’ve stared down plenty of good-looking players without losing my cool . . . and yet something about Ty’s intense gaze burns straight to my core.

Ty: Despite what they say in the press, I save my best moves for game day. The Grizzlies aren’t just my teammates, they’re my brothers—no way am I going to let some new coach shake up our defense. But Iona Thomas isn’t just some coach. It’s so tough to keep my head in the game when I’d rather be in bed with her. She may take charge at practice, but if I had her in my arms, I’d be choosing the plays. I just need to figure out what makes her tick—and what makes her want to break the rules.

4.0 out of 5 stars Letting Go 22 April 2017

Getting Inside isn't just a sports romance. It's a story of two people who, first, have to learn to let go of the pain from the past to move forward. The second thing they have to learn is, in order for them to be together, they have fight as hard for each other as they do for their love of football.

I didn't understand all of the terminology, but context clues helped. There are moments where I teared up and aww moments, specifically O and Ty. The book is well-written, few to no errors. I don't read many sports romances, but I happy I gave Getting Inside a chance.

Getting Inside by Serena Bell.....What an amazing start to a new series the Seattle Grizzlies. I loved how the heroine Iona is a coach of the football team, in a man's world. Ty is a hot player and he sees Iona and sparks fly. This is a hot steamy read that I enjoyed watching this story unfold. I can't wait for the next book in this series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book from publisher via NetGalley.

4.0 out of 5 stars Getting Inside 6 January 2017

Iona is the first woman coach in the PFL (similar to our NFL). There is a lot of pressure on both Iona and the team to show she's got the ability to coach men. She's got a lot to prove as most people don't believe females should be coaching at the professional level. She realizes it will be a lot harder once she sees linebacker Ty and he sets her skin on fire!

Ty is a linebacker for The Seattle Grizzlies, the team that just hired Iona. He's got questions on whether she has the right prospective to coach men. It doesn't help that she's so nice to look at and she smells amazing.

Both characters are equally smitten with each other and the book goes back and forth across that coach/player line. Ultimately it becomes too large a mountain to climb and they give into their attraction. But what do they do now? They could have a PR nightmare on their hands and both have a lot to lose if this gets out.

I liked the premise of this book, but I didn't feel real heat with the characters. I didn't feel any real connection with them either. I know they both had their own baggage, but we weren't let into that till way late in the book. Much of it was dancing around this attraction and sneaking glances when they thought no one was the wiser. I had hopes that once they gave in, it would ramp up, but sadly I was disappointed. There just seemed to be missing a spark within this story to drive me to read to the next page and see what happens. I also felt like a lot of the past issues with each character were never resolved. Yes, we have some implied action, but I felt I wanted more.

Getting Inside is the first book in the Seattle Grizzlies series and it may pick up as the series gains ground.

4.0 out of 5 stars Forbidden love ;) 31 March 2017

Forbidden love - an all time favorite theme where romance is concerned. This time we see it in sports. In football, to be exact. A female football coach isn't exactly what we are used to seeing, especially one that looks like Iona Thomas. Sexy, strong and determined to prove herself in a world dominated by men.

It's a tall order, to be sure. Not to mention the fact that she also has to fight the intense and animal attraction that she feels for her linebacker Ty Williams. She knows that even a shadow of doubt can ruin her career, but how long can they deny the mutual attraction that seems to consume them.

Ty Williams is the linebacker for the Seattle Grizzlies. An imposing figure both on the field and off it. But how is a man to concentrate with a woman like Iona ordering him around. He may be a playboy, but if there is one woman who can make him give up his playboy ways, it is her. But how can they keep this attraction on the down low?

I love a book where there is a constant sizzle. Chemistry that is too big to over look and deny. I just wish that that attraction could have translated better after they gave in. There was so much buildup that I was expecting more when Iona and Ty got together. More heat, more sparks. This was, however, the first book in the series so I am expecting the upcoming books to be even hotter! Can't wait!

Thank you Netgalley and Random House Publishing for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
5.0 out of 5 stars Football Romance Twith plenty of romantic and sexual tension throughout... YES! 5 January 2017

5 *. The Seattle Grizzlies are a pro football team “PFL”…yes, American football. The author described the football environment and life successfully. Ty Williams is a linebacker with the Grizzlies and something isn’t working with the team. They are tight…as tight as brothers. Ty has a no good feelings about his own brother “Like a brother” isn’t a compliment in his book. His family is this team and the team is losing. Something isn’t right with Ty and it may, possibly, have started with the death of his coach and longtime mentor. Ty has just had it with the negativity of the replacement coach and looks for the head coach to let him know in no uncertain terms that it isn’t working when he is sees a really familiar woman. A sexy, model beautiful woman is in the office. He is met with a surprise that the linebacker coach is gone. Fired. Ty is placed on notice that he needs to do better and there is a new linebacker coach in place. His first impression upon seeing his new coach, Iona Thomas is female? Wow. Hot. Want…..Nope!
Iona knows all about Ty Williams who comes across as sex on a plate in photos and on TV and who dates “rich models with expensively styled hair…legs up to their necks and …. Well you know the type. There is no way she is going to do anything about her instantaneous attraction to her ‘player’. She is the coach.
Well written, this is a really, really good story with all of the elements of a contemporary romance beginning with very likeable main characters who meet early in the story. The secondary characters complement the story but don’t provide too much ‘noise’. The barrier to the relationship is their coach vs player roles for the team. There is plenty of romantic and sexual tension throughout…building to a dangerous point. The characters are well enough described that the reader can visualize them and understand their thoughts and behaviors.
Both of the main characters in this story are very likeable individuals with very different backgrounds…although both have baggage. Fortunately Iona knows her stuff and she can figure out her players. Early on, she discovers that Ty needs someone to ‘play for’ and now that his mentor is gone, his drive is also missing. Ty has not learned to play for himself. Iona on the other hand has focused all of her drive, attention and sense of self to football, coaching and being accepted for her talent rather than her gender. She doesn’t see herself as any sort of competition for the ‘beautiful model type’. Both have family relationship issues that need to be faced before moving forward.
