5.0 out of 5 stars Best book on Nursing! 15 April 2014

I loved this book and read it twice. The author was graphically honest and fought against the reality of this career and its enormous toll on an individual. Her next career,I hope, is writing. Her descriptions are painful yet extremely witty. I rarely laugh aloud while reading, having been a nurse for 4+ Decades. I could not wait to read it again! It is a love/ hate relationship!
A little heavy on the obscenities, but brutally honest.

4.0 out of 5 stars a cracking good read 22 October 2012

I read a review for this book in the weekend paper and then took a sample from Amazon. I was hooked from the first few pages and bought the book. I enjoyed the fast pace and the mixture of tragedy and comedy. It was well written and the author's observations about herself and her patients were handled deftly, blending the ascerbic and the empathetic very well. It gave me a great insight into the world of nurses and I look forward to another book about the author's life when her seven years of nursing came to an end. Highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars It was alright 2 July 2013

Edgy humor? More like a negative outlook on her entire career. She's the Daria of nursing. I was looking for a more positive but still tell it like it is book and I didn't get that. I wish the reviews or description would have warned me she is not a positive (or even close) kind of thinker. Very sadistic. Overall, it was still a good read and I was able to follow her stories and sympathize.

2.0 out of 5 stars Wrong career 4 October 2013
By Jojangles - Published on Amazon.com

Although some parts were funny and some realistic, this woman should have never gone into nursing. Her whole attitude stinks and she gives the profession a bad name. Rest assured, many nurses don't think like this & actually like their job. It's reasonably well written, but the content is off-putting.

3.0 out of 5 stars Quick easy read! 10 January 2013

This book was an easy read with some interesting and funny stories. I felt towards the end of the book the stories became so similar that I lost interest. The author could have spent more time discussing her thoughts regarding the impact her experiences had on her personally if any, more depth here would have elevated this book to a more thought provoking read.
