"No game is worth playing unless you're playing to win"

OK, so I am not going to lie, I have been #TeamWalkingDildo from the get go.

But now I think that maybe Noah has some stiff (pun intended!) competition from #TeamMiniWalkingDildo, his younger brother Matt.

When the "the brother-in-law's brother" Matt hooks up with "the sister-in-law's sister" Mia, I just knew that things were going to get sexy hot super fast.

I mean wow, the sexual chemistry between Matt and Mia is through the roof! You could feel their attraction to each other leap off the pages. And when they are in the same room together - the sparks just flew!

But you could just feel that things were never going to be easy between them - especially with Mia constantly complicating things, and Matt's reputation.

I could understand Mia's hesitation, truly I could. But I just wanted to clip her around the ears, tell her to wake up to herself and to stop being so stubborn.

I felt for Matt as no one would take him seriously, wouldn't even try to see that he is a changed man. I could feel his frustration and his hurt that his family and friends though of him that way.

As we learn more about Matt and Mia's history, the more I just loved Matt.

What I loved the most about Game Player (well, besides M & M) was that we got more of the characters from the Bliss series, and OMG the banter between the family and friends was laugh out loud funny, particularly between Noah and Matt.

I laughed, I got sad, I got angry, I got happy while reading Game Player. I feel that these people are part of my family I have been reading about them so long now. I devoured every word in one sitting, and can't wait to see where Ms Harvey takes us next.

What an delicious start for B.J. Harvey's new series "Game", once I started reading, I was sucked into the story & what a story B.J. has for us. A spin-off series of "Bliss" has you reacquainted with the characters, also giving you a look into their lives via the new main characters that this series is about. I loved this by the way, once I figured out who was who. I had moments where I laughed so hard, then a tear would escape.... Mia & her BFF are a crack up to read, then adding in Matt Taylor aka Mini WD, the interractions become intense & your thrown for a while. Saying that I DEVOURED 'Game Player' I really wanted to know how things would turn out.

HASH(0xab9c4c6c) out of 5 stars Matt & Mia 19 May 2016
By Julie H - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS - The book gets a little better when Mia & Matt finally figure out that they are very compatible in the bedroom & maybe are willing to try to more. Rather Matt is all about trying a real relationship while Mia has her head up her butt & keeps throwing Matt's playboy ways in his face time & again. I didn't care for Mia - she is very crass & rude & childish, I didn't like the banter between her, her sisters, and her friends. And she acted like a total brat when Matt tried time & again to be patient with her & continue to show her he really was trying hard. Sure, Matt used to go through women like underwear but Mia wasn't really showing any ability to commit either. I loved Matt even more when Mia embarrasses the crap out of him at his parent's party, she has a huge freak out that shows she doesn't deserve Matt's sweetness or his hot body. Oh well, win some, lose some, and this book didn't do anything for me.

HASH(0xab9c80c0) out of 5 stars Matt Taylor was all the things! Loved this book!!! 24 March 2016

BJ Harvey sets the tone for the Game Series, with this hysterical and at times emotional release. Game Player features Matt Taylor, the boy made famous in the Bliss Series by his scratch n’ stiff technique. Younger brother to Noah Taylor (the original Walking D*ldo), Matt; the mini walking d*ldo, soon proves there is nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing mini about him.

Mia Roberts, who happens to be Zander’s little sister (Bliss) has some loose family ties to Matt. You see, Matt’s brother married Mia’s sister (you still with me?) so not only does she know his fame for the cut n’ run romance moves that Matt rocks, he also knows that she isn’t the relationship type of gal either. But things are bound to get complicated with the connections these two share run this deep. But they weren’t thinking about the consequences when they have a hot little encounter in a closet at a wedding two years ago and when Matt still can’t get her out of his head, nothing is going to stand in his way, even if that ‘thing’ is Mia.

One of my favorite types of heroes are the sorts that like to sleep around but when they find the one, they go all in. We like to call these the man-wh*res of the romance community. Matt Taylor certainly wears that crown with pride but that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t want more out of life than just a quick lay and an easy goodbye in the morning.

I loved Matt. It didn’t take long for me to start to see this softer vulnerable side of him. I felt horrible that so many didn’t see him as mature or worthy. It broke my heart even as BJ had me in fits of giggles. I wanted to stand up and shout that he was more than just the d**k in his pants! I loved how much he jumped into the whole deal with Mia. He knew what he wanted and he went after it.

Then that leaves Mia. Poor, poor confused Mia. It was obvious that she was harboring some issues when it came to commitment. Repeating the mistakes her mother made, falling for a man that could wreck her, use her and leave her for someone else; was her greatest fear. Falling for Matt Taylor, the very definition of man-wh*re wasn’t the greatest idea she’s ever had. I didn’t love Mia, but I didn’t hate her. I think I saw enough of her insecurities to make sense of her behavior but that didn’t mean that she did not leave me frustrated. But this was a rom-com so although some moments of this book did hit some emotional moments, it still remained lighthearted.

I loved the chemistry between these two. I loved getting to have extra time with the cast of Bliss, but most of all, I loved getting to watch Matt Taylor fall on his *behind*, head over heels in love with the one woman that could give him a run for his money when it came to serious relationships.

Of all the books I’ve read from BJ (and I’ve read them all), this is my favorite. I can’t wait for the rest of this series and to get to know the other characters.

HASH(0xab9c4e40) out of 5 stars I really liked the plot 23 March 2016
By Bouscher99 - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
As with all of the other books I’ve read from this author, this one is well written and holds your attention. Overall, I really liked the plot but the execution was just a bit off for me. I loved Matt but Mia was way to judgmental and worried about what others think for my personal taste. I also thought she was a bit of a hypocrite at times and when Matt called her out on it at one point, I couldn’t help but to cheer him on!

There were some things I didn’t care for in this story but they’re personal preference. Unfortunately, it was enough that it kept me on the verge of really liking it so I have to stick with 3 stars. That’s also the reason why I didn’t find it as funny as others did.

Even though this isn’t my favorite BJ Harvey book, it won’t be my last. I look forward to future stories.

HASH(0xab9c8564) out of 5 stars Great start to this spin-off series! I dare you not to fall for Matt Taylor! 23 March 2016
By mjlovestoread - Published on Amazon.com

Just when I thought I couldn't fall for yet another one of BJ Harvey's men, with a certain Superman capturing my heart years ago, the author goes and gives us Matt Taylor. The Player, the one who just doesn't do long-term. Or so he thought...

What a fantastic ride. Pairing Matt with Mia Roberts, a woman who is just as gun-shy when it comes to relationships as he is, was perfect. Even though a steamy, quick yet very satisfying tryst at Noah and Zoe Taylor's wedding 2 years prior was something to be forgotten, neither one ever really did. Since they are both part of the ever-expanding 'incestuous' group first introduced in the Bliss series, they are hesitant to make their attraction more than it is. However things start to change between them and when it does, nothing is ever the same.

BJ Harvey's ability to make me swoon one minute and then chuckle a bit the next is what makes her books so much fun to read. She masterfully combines sexy as hell scenes with morning after chats that are witty and sweet and at times really tender. A very real kind of story, whichI truly enjoy.

Matt is a huge surprise and steps up when it means the most and although at times I wanted to shake Mia straight, I understood her hesitance and was ever so hopeful she'd see the light of day when it came to the man she was slowly falling for. They weren't meant to be but perhaps fate will have a hand in changing that.

BJ Harvey is at her best with these characters, as much beloved now as they were in her first book. I love that everyone is present and accounted for and their crazy affinity for one another made me smile.

Don't pass this one up, you'll truly love it just like I did.

A well-deserved 5 stars!!

Review:
Oh! My! Word! If Game Player is part of a new spin series off from the Bliss series by BJ Harvey, then where the he££ have I been?!? Now, quick history before we get into it: Mia's older sister, Zander, is married to Matt's older brother, Noah. So basically, our characters are related through a marriage, but not by blood and I'm so very glad of that little tidbit of information because these two have steamed up my kindle and made me laugh so hard that I swear I'm still feeling the effects days later. Here we have two completely different people, looking for different things: Matt, looking for the easy 'sleep and run', never having to commit in the long term and enjoying the many perks of being the bachelor - only how was I to know that I was going to get hit with the 'how did I miss his vulnerable side'! And we have Mia, who hides her pain from her past relationships who have continuously disappointed and hurt her by turning into the very 'thing' she never thought she'd become: a commitmentmophobe! As many times as the two of them could clash and realize how much they really are alike, their attraction for one another is the one thing they never could deny - and let me tell you, it was tangible and it was hot - there were even times when I thought I should get out of the room and give them space (alright, that's a joke, but we get the picture). As hilarious as it was, and as 'stimulating' (because certain words are filtered from Amazon) as it was, Game Player by BJ Harvey still had the capacity of making me sigh in contentment, growl in frustration and even have my eyes water in sadness as I experienced the evolution of Mia and Matt's relationship from their first romp in the closet two years ago to the realization that they're simply made for each other. My only complaint about Game Player? Finding out that it's part of a spin off series and that I now find myself in a dilemma and having to decide on whether or not I'm adding the Bliss series to my 'to be read' list or simply 'one clicking' it and getting my nose right down to business and getting to know the rest of the gang that I met in the novel that was created by BJ Harvey.
