3.0 out of 5 stars Good software but weak hardware
By Hallo on 8 October 2020
I bought the Mudi here at Amazon 07/2020. Before that I had the Nighthawk M1 Cat16. First I had to learn that the Mudi has only Cat6 and therefore is mostly 30 to 50% slower at 4G.

I kept the Mudi anyway because it offers more functionality. Moving files over the SD card works reliably, but only with a speed of 3 - 5 MB per second. Being able to activate the VPN client already in the router is convenient. However, it only gives you about 50% of the speed compared to the VPN app on a laptop. The built-in processor in Mudi is simply too weak. There are many settings that work in principle. Due to the weak processor, not all of them work at the same time. I could already test the function "Adguard Home" in the beta and it works. But as I said, the router is already at its performance limit. Well implemented is the WLAN repeater function. This always worked reliably. But also here the speed with VPN is reduced by 50% (compared to VPN on laptop). If you open the Mudi, the battery can be disconnected easily. This is useful to connect the router to a permanent power source.

I would not buy the Mudi anymore, because the built-in hardware is too weak. In operation the Mudi is the eye of the needle and reduces the speed by 50 to 70 %. This is too much for me. But I haven't found a real mobile alternative yet.

Really good product! Tiny. I can easily just put it in my pocket or bags and take it with me right away.
VPN works perfectly with a stable connection. It maintains the stable connection which many others router weak at.
Overall, It's good and worth, relatively rich functions and low price.
