#1 Books for Intelligent Teens (Listopia)
#1 Teen Paranormal Books That Don't Suck (Goodreads)

New York Times bestselling author, Victoria Danann dishes up a stunning new teen/young adult series like nothing else.

"FIVE STARS for one of the most peculiar high school experiences of all time!"  - The World is Hers for the Reading

When it came to the attention of the old ones that their creations, the Earth gods, had been playing games at the expense of humankind for millennia, they put a stop to it. But the rebellious gods were far too addicted to their games to give them up. After several summit meetings, they voted to use their own children as players and locate the playing field in the most treacherous environment in the known universe... high school.

To make it even more interesting, they would strip their children of their memories and withhold the rules of the game. Like the other players, sixteen year old Ever thinks she's an ordinary kid until she transfers to R. Caine. When mystery and mystic collide, she'd better wake up to her powers fast.

"Move over Bella Forrest. There's a new series in town." - Fanatical Paranormal Romantical

Start reading TODAY and find out why readers are calling R. Caine HS funny, fast paced, and fabulous with flair.

I must say that this awesome story is unlike anything I have ever read. The storyline of the Earth Gods wanting to continue playing games with humanity. But the old ones putting a stop to it so they decide to use their own children to play. And the playing field is High School. And the players don’t know who they real are or were.
It’s such a unique story that keeps you riveted to reading and wanting more. This is the first book of the series that sets the stage of the game. I can’t wait for the next book. It’s extremely well written and very entertaining to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Never would have believed it… 24 March 2017

Okay, a disclaimer: This is not my genre and I didn't want to read it. In fact, I had a really hard time starting. So why did I try it? The author asked it in her last book, so I did. Now about the book.
I was still saying "What am I doing?" at about the halfway mark and this flashy thing passed right in front of me. I looked closely and yep, there was the hook so I took off after it thinking "This time will be different." It wasn't and that's how Victoria Danann hooked me. Again.
Oh you want details? Sorry. I'll just say this - read it all before you decide. Of course if you're a fan of hers as I am, just go ahead and resign yourself to another Victoria Danann series! This time it's high school, Norse gods, Valkyries and… good stuff. And did I mention it's Victoria Danann? 'Nuff said.

5.0 out of 5 stars Victoria Danann takes us back to school! 1 March 2017
By Janine D. - Published on

Victoria Dannan has knocked it out of the park with her first foray into writing young adult.

Ever Moore is the new kid in school. All she is worried about is finding her classes, not having to eat lunch alone, getting good grades and fitting in. However, strange people, and things seem to follow her wherever she goes.

Ever seems to surround herself with a unique group of classmates. Galalia, who Ever nicknames Gaga, quickly becomes Ever’s best friend. Jean Marre, also known as “hunky odd boy,” is in every one of Ever’s classes except for gym. Mercury Ryder, super intelligent with a mix of surfer dude and class clown tendencies seems to offer Ever advice. And Gabe, with his trumpet, seems to think he can change the world through music.

When some strange advice from Mercury clues Ever in on just how bizarre her first few days of high school have been, and how many coincidences have occurred, she turns to Gaga for help. Gaga completes a reading of tarot cards for Ever and while some things start falling in to place, they also take on deeper meanings that Ever can’t quite grasp yet.

Victoria Danann has done an amazing job of creating a completely unique cast of characters to play out the “game” created by the Earth gods in probably one of the most feared and difficult spots any teenager is forced to face – high school! These characters immediately pulled me into their world and left me wanting more. I cannot wait to see what trials lay ahead for Ever as she navigates a game she does not even realize she is playing.

I give this 5 stars and hope that the next installment arrives quickly to take me back into what may be one of the most peculiar high school experiences of all time!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Game has definitely begun!!! 1 March 2017

Victoria Danann has entered the YA world and she does it brilliantly. She truly captures the voice of a teenager and the stress of high school. This is the start of a fascinating series.

Ever Moore just moved to California from her home in Austin, Texas. To say she is not thrilled by this turn of events is an understatement. She had to leave her friends and her nice, quiet life. The prospect of being the new kid in the high school is also terrifying. Still, she does make some new friends rather quickly. They maybe a little weird, but they are interesting. In fact, there is an amazing amount of weird going on around her and to her.

A game is about to be played. A game she knows nothing about and one for which she never volunteered. Allies and enemies are forming and it is not always easy to know which is which. And then there is that strange, scowling, but undeniably attractive French Canadian, Jean Marre Montreuil. He keeps showing up in her classes and in her private life.

If you love YA, this will be perfect for you. If you aren't a YA fan, this will convert you. Victoria Danann is a gifted story teller. You will want to spend time in the worlds she has invented and with the characters she has created. Luckily the next one, THE KNIGHT, is coming out soon. I can't wait.

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic beginning 1 March 2017

Usually, I am not a reader of YA books. However, I love the way Danann writes and have read every other book she has written so I decided to give this one a try. I am ecstatic that I did. The premise of the book that the gods are in control and playing games because they are bored was too delicious to pass up. The characters are well developed but will be even more so in the future, I am sure. The game is beginning and the players are beginning to be laid out. I was oh, so deep in the story that it was a jolt when it just stopped. I knew this was a serial so expected it but I was so engrossed in the story I momentarily forgot. That is a sure sign of a good book. To be so immersed in the story that everything else goes away. I cannot wait to see where Danann takes us with this one!! VERY VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

5.0 out of 5 stars She did it again! 26 February 2017

Cannot believe how she continues to do it. Loved this story, I didn't even mind that it was a YA book. Love the fact that Victoria is moving into a new category. Not only can she do Paranormal Romance, Biker Boy Romance, but now she is moving in to the YA category that is based on mythological characters. The main character in this book reminds me of all of the students that are going through high school now days. Never knowing where they truly fit into the social order. I cannot wait to see where this series goes in the future. The only thing that could have been better would to have already had the second book in this series handy so I could continue on with the story! Great job again Victoria Danann! I can't wait to share with my high school students.
