Future Histories is similar to Shoshana Zuboff’s "Surveillance Capitalism." But it’s fresher and more optimistic. Something few books on technology do well is taking an interdisciplinary deep dive into the world of the past, present and future. This book does it exceptionally well.
Future Histories examines our digital present through a historical and philosophical lens, inviting us to think deeply about our past so that we can understand our digital future.
It is probably aimed at people who know a lot about technology already and want to understand the political context and understand arguments for a more collaborative and democratic digital future. I found profound wisdom and perspective in these pages. Important stuff to think about as as we stand on the brink of a technological and environmental dystopia. Highly recommended!
