To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I loved this story. It was terrific, I especially liked the way the story had Fury accepting her past as well as her future. I hope we will read more about Fury.
Note: Y. Galenorn gives the appropriate amount of information to read the book without knowledge of the three prior installments, so you could start reading here. But still, I think you‘d get more out of „Fury Calling“, if you started at the beginning.
Review As per usual in this series, the plot starts right where the prequel left off: after Seattle has fallen, Fury, her friends and a good part of the Elder Gods are putting their effort into establishing a village in the Wild Woods. Tam has moved Under Barrow near the new village and everyone tries to settle in. But Lyon, the head of the nefarious Order of the Black Mist, is still alive and still trying to find the portal to the Elder Gods of Chaos in the World Tree to open it and let them in. And just when Fury asks herself, if they all should just live their lives to th fullest until the world ends, she is given a vision by Gaia with, showing her how to prevent this special kind of apocalypse.
The last stand is pretty good, but not the most important thing of this installment. This is more about Fury settling into a new life, accepting what is what, and although she loves a lot about it, she still has to struggle to cope with it. Her relationship with Tam is wonderful, without angst and stuff. And I like that Fury sees everything clear, even about herself. And she isn’t prone to making bad or rash decisions, although she always does, what is necessary. The story arc at hand, with the Order of the Black Mist and the change of the world order, is satisfyingly finished. Answers are given, relationships develop (not always into something better, but that’s how life is) and battles are fought. If there are more „Fury“-books, I’ll surely read them, but for now, the end is all I wanted it to be.
Editing isn't great (I've noticed this with all Yasmine Galenorn books I've read), common errors in grammar/punctuation as well as errors in the storyline itself. (book 5 has a huge discrepancy in the storyline!) I wish Kindle/Goodreads allowed you to see the title/volume more than just when you open it. But good story otherwise.
