I’m probably biased but I think this series is hands down just incredible. Everytime I start a book from this series I smash it out in a day or to and then like an addict are left itching for the next installment. The historical accuracy and depth of the stories are just brilliant.
Another great book from Robert Fabbri. His novels are based on facts and his characters are very realistic. Altogether an excellent read and I recommend it to all lovers of good historical fiction.
Bloody indeed as the hairy Britons rise up against the corrupt Romans, prodded into revolt by the revolting Nero. An enjoyable romp with plenty of humour, intrigue and dodgy behaviour. Vespasian develops further as a character and w see even more of the very different morals of ancient times. Well worth a read!
I've thoroughly enjoyed all the Vespasian series so far and this book is no exception. It is an excellent blend of action and intrigue, taking Vespasian between palace politics, frantic battles and back. I look forward to the next episode.

The 7th installment of an already fantastic series and this was the one that I just couldn't put down, I must have finished in 2 blissfully happy days, there are not many authors out there who can totally immerse you in their work but I was transported back to Rome the sights sounds everything, Robert's passion and knowledge come through in bucket loads and after 7 books everyone seems like old acquaintances and friends and it's a pleasure catching up with them again, this has to be my favourite so far, the battle scenes grab you by the scruff of your neck and drag you straight into the fight, breathtakingly stunningly written and makes.you feel like punching your arm in the air shouting "WAR!!" This should be a must purchase for.anybody interested in an exiting part of Roman history by an unquestionably fantastic author on the very top of his game, thank you very much Mr Fabbri
Growing attached to the lives of the main characters . Rome seen from a political world mixed with battle and tactics to gain personal glory and riches for one's sole interest, strikingly not far off our politicians today without the murderous intent, added humour in thoughts of characters really gives a good balance, this series is a brilliant read, cannot wait for the next book to follow
The entire Vaspasian series is worthy of praise, It's difficulty to choose a favourite. The historical notes at the back are interesting and informative. Thoroughly enjoyable and a reminder of how depraved Rome and the rest of the world was at that time. Far more graphic than that of a Stevan Saylor novel and written less formally. It took me a while to get over the modernisation of the dialog but I think that was just my own prejudice.. Enjoy..
Am slowly reading through the series, have 2 more books to go. Definitely a rough life for those without money and status which these books give us a good insight but even with money and status nobody is really safe from these power Hungary emperors. Looking forward to the next book.
I found it hard to believe that the Roman race were quite that barbaric in their early days, if they were, with the much improved fossils found such as their roads and improved dwellings better leaders must have been found.
