Freaky stuff at its best.Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 October 2018
Having only read a few of Laymon' s books, this is definitely one worth getting immersed in. Full of depraved and horrific behaviour, Laymon first spends time building up the characters as real people, before you realise just how twisted and disturbed some of them are under their 'normal' exterior. A tremendously well-paced climax brings everything together in a bloodthirsty torrent of death and mutilation. I was actually surprised but relieved that not everybody ended up dead, but trying to guess who will survive is near impossible. A gruesome and well-plotted tale that is sure to leave you feeling creeped out for the next few days.
One of Laymons bestReviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 February 2021
Really good read, couldn't put it down once I started. Lots of gory bits and the storyline stays steady whilst bringing in characters back story's. One of my favourite Laymon books now, highly recommended
A brilliant book, with a terrible ending, but a good twistReviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 November 2012
This was my first ever kindle, and second trip into the world of richard laymon, this is a good book which centres on a boy who moves to bolets bay, where there are some unusual happenings, the bums are threatning the residences, but a gang of kids decide to fight back, which ends up taking on the perils of the Funhouse, which infact are anything but fun, and they end up fighting for their lives, the reason it looses a star in my opinion, for that happens in the final battle of funhouse which sadly lets the book down and starts to go a bit stupid, however the book redeems itself at the end and makes for a nice twist, on the whole a good Laymon book, and one to recommend

An engaging read.Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 July 2015
Richard Laymon is one of my fav authors, though I do find some of his books are repetive and similar in characters and plot. Funland is packed with different characters with different struggles. I love how they're brought together at the end so they share the one problem- how to survive. If I could change anything it would be the very end. I don't want to give anything away but I thought it was a tad far-fetched and silly. The rest of the book more than makes up for it, in my opinion, so I'm giving a full five stars.
