Nicely done!! This book even offers a custom Kindle Dictionary designed specifically for this book! freely available for download. Sample code available as well. Amazing value, and worth every penny! Author warns about possible formatting problems, but it sure looks good on my Kindle PaperWhite. Author is clearly very at home with Matlab / and Octave. I own multiple Matlab books, but this is my favorite...and especially for the price, you won;t find better value! Thanks!

I'm a complete beginner to Digital Signal Processing / Time-Frequency Analysis and Octave /Matlab.
However I'm very experienced in programming for other imperative languages (python, php, go)

I'm the kind of person that learns better by looking at how something is implemented in code and then reading the explanation.
In this regard the book is excellent since it strikes the right balance of code, explanation, and density of information.

Due to the care taken in the examples I was able to execute all (except one) in Gnu - Octave.
Which was perfect since I didn't want to buy a Matlab license.

Something that sets this book apart is it's emphasis on how to simulate data from the real world.

All in all an excellent book.
