The mix of action, plot twists and personal tragedy made for a hard to put down read. Love the fact that we always get flashes of past characters that became acquaintances during previous reads. Hope for more instalments of this series. Very enjoyable read well recommended.

3.75 stars--FULL THROTTLE is the seventh installment in Julie Ann Walker’s contemporary, adult Black Knights Inc romantic action/ suspense series focusing on an elite group of ex Navy SEALS, FBI, CIA and military heroes headquartered at a motorcycle shop known as Black Knights Inc. The men and women of Black Knights Inc are so far under the radar that they are blacker than Black Ops. This is Carlos ‘Steady’ Soto and Abby Thompson’s storyline- a friends to lovers trope with a slight second chance at love.

Abby Thompson is the twenty seven year old daughter of the President of the USA, a botanist and currently in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on assignment. Eight years earlier Abby’s best friend was killed in a coffee shop explosion that was intended to take out the President’s daughter. With her security detail in place, Abby believes she is well protected from any personal threats against her life. Enter Carlos Soto, her best friend’s brother and one of the men hired as part of Abby’s protection team. Within a matter of minutes, most of the Secret Service Agents will be killed and Abby will be kidnapped and held hostage in places unknown.

Told from several close third person points of view, the storyline finds Carlos going solo into the jungles of Malaysia searching for the woman that he loves. Eight years earlier, the then twenty five year old Carlos believed he was too old for Abby and now that her life has been threatened Carlos is determined to bring her home-at any cost. The relationship between Abby and Carlos is fraught with sexual tension, desire and lust. A good portion of the storyline finds Carlos is desperate need of sexual release and our couple takes the opportunity to explore one another while on the run.

Please note that I received an ARC of Full Throttle for free and that this is my honest review.

Oh man, Full Throttle was such a good book! I really liked the characters and the suspense had me on the edge of my seat, as always. It's always so great when each book Julie Ann Walker writes is better than the last, which is a feat in itself because they are all so thrilling and exciting! Definitely one of my favorite book series.

The main couple in Full Throttle, Carlos and Abbie, were fun to read about. I really liked their backstory and that they were such good friends. Some of my favorite parts were when they would tease each other by hitting the other on the arm with the whole "Stop" "No, you stop" debate. So cute. It was nice to see their friendship throughout the romance.

I also really liked the introduction of the other romance in Full Throttle, Dan and Penni. We know Dan has been having such a hard time dealing with a recent loss and I just wanted to wrap him up in a hug when reading his earlier scenes. I think Penni will be so good for him and I hope to read more of their story in the coming books.

And Ozzie! My funny, sexy, sweet, genius Ozzie... I'm not even going to talk about what happened with him in this book because spoilers, but I will say I just about had a heart attack. Heaven help me when his book comes out because I just adore the bejeezus out of him. His scenes were so great, as always, and I can't wait to have his book in my greedy little hands. When will this be, Ms. Walker? :-)

The author did a great job of introducing the SEAL team, who I believe will be the main characters of her new upcoming series (tell me if I'm wrong). I'm very interested to read more about them and their escapades in the Keyes. Especially Romeo. I think he is my favorite out of the SEAL characters so far.

The was lots of humor in Full Throttle, which I'm always glad to see, and I especially enjoyed the creative swearing from Abbie. She came up with the funniest phrases, and I found myself laughing along with Carlos. I hope we get to see and hear more of her in the coming books.

The continuing "big bad" that started with the first book is still there in Full Throttle, and I like how seamlessly the author ties in more information about that with the new book's storyline. I'm looking forward to seeing how it will all be resolved by the last book and I'm also looking forward to them finding the missing nuclear warheads. I wonder who's book will tie that up and what the storyline will be in finding the warheads.

I definitely recommend this series to everyone. I love romance books, which the Black Knights Inc., series definitely has, and I really like the suspense and continuing mystery. So if you like those themes, definitely check it out!
5.0 out of 5 stars Is it possible to have a second chance with the one you loved and lost? 9 January 2016

Julie Ann Walker – Black Knights Inc. Series – Full Throttle – Book 7

I am glad that we get to her Carlos “Steady” Soto’s story. As the story begins we find out 8 years ago Abigail Thompson was 19, and possibly future “first daughter” was in pure lust of Carlos. Carlos was 25 and his life was headed toward general surgery. A bomb went off and Abby was rushed to a vehicle to be taken away from the scene. Carlos ran to the coffee shop where his sister Rosa was waiting for Abby and where the bomb just exploded.

After eight years Carlos “Steady” Soto is going to see the woman he once loved and lost, Abby Thompson as her security detail during a after her life was threaten. After she is taken as a hostage, Carlos is determined find her and then protect her at any cost.

Is it possible for a second chance for Carlos and Abby? But, first, they both had to make it out alive.

As always Ms. Walker has made another slam dunk with this book. Susupense, Intrigue, plenty of sizzling romance and a dash of comedy. But I suppose my only CON is that with each book I've read so far she has included a Sneak Peek at the next book in the series. Granted that's NOT a bad thing, but 4 chapters here in one book, 6 chapters in two books and this for the 7th book she INCLUDED the first 12 freaking chapters as a "SNEAK PEEK"! If I venture a guess, that'd be at least HALF OF BOOK 8! Now book 8 is $5.38 or so. Why pay THAT MUCH for 'another' book when you just read a quarter to a half of it in the PREVIOUS BOOK?! It just makes no sense to me.

Wow talk about action packed, Steady was Steady in his do as he wants way when his long time love Abby was kidnapped but right on the dot when he had to save Ozzy's life, but Abby she night be like the girl next door but being the President's daughter she was tough as nails when she had to be and by gosh she and Steady were perfect together no matter what they got into. Until her secrets had to be told then she broke, she always had a soft spot for Steady when they were in college together and Abby was best friends to Steadys twin sister but after his sister was killed she always made sure Steady stayed alive no matter what his assignments were for BKI & The Rangers. These two will bond more and more throughout their journey from running from the bad guys, loosing people they cared about and bring the bad guys to justice.

First, let me say I have been reading this series since the beginning. I am a sucker for alpha males on a mission to save the world, especially when they have the kind of brotherhood camaraderie the Black Knights have. With the exception of Thrill Ride, I have loved the whole series. Except, I didn't love Full Throttle. I wanted to. It occurred to me a few weeks ago that I hadn't read a BKI book in a while, and was thrilled when I saw Full Throttle was due soon...But, wow, this really didn't work for me.

Starting with the good...What worked for me -

I like the way Julie Ann Walker writes, for the most part. Her characters are smart and snarky. The story moves along at a pretty rapid pace. I love the bromances between the guys. World building is succinct, but thorough.

Specifically to this book - I liked Dan and Penni. The guys we met who are in the new series have the same alpha male, closely bonded vibe I fall for every time. I learned things about the Malay culture (!) Yeah, that's about all that worked for me. I liked Carlos.

What didn't work as well - So many things, so I am just going to hit the highlights -

This has come up before in this series(Hell On Wheels), but the cutesy cursing by the heroine was ludicrous. It's supposed to be endearing and creative, but it came off as ridiculous. Curse, don't curse...who cares? Don't make up nonsensical crap.

There is too much going on in this book. We have Carlos and Abby, Dan and Penni, the introduction of the new series guys...The threads were not well integrated, and the transitions felt jerky and rough.

Smexy times were weird. Not very smexy, and both couples engage when the timing is seriously inappropriate. Seriously. Inappropriate.

The continual updates as to the state of Carlos' penis. Maybe this is in the other books, I don't recall it if it is, but I was not engaged enough to integrate that information into the story, and it stuck out. No pun intended!

Abby's "secret", which I figured out immediately after the event. Contrived, and if Carlos hadn't already cottoned on to the big picture, if not the minutiae, he needs to find a new line of work.

Not enough time with the BKI boys.

Bottom line - This title didn't work very well for me. That said, a not as good Julie Ann Walker book is still readable. If you are a fan of the series, you will want to read this. If you haven't started the series, I would highly recommend starting at the beginning. Full Throttle can be read as a standalone, but it is not, by far, the best book in the series. I will continue reading Ms Walker's work.
