5.0 out of 5 stars It's been great fun using just one prime lens with this camera
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 June 2016
I bought an X Pro1 body and this lens about a year ago. It's been great fun using just one prime lens with this camera, and the combination produces outstanding images. I use the metal hood quite a lot, and the rubber cap for it does fall off sometimes, so I've ended up leaving the cap off when I leave the house, as there's usually a polariser or UV filter on the lens itself.

This is a great lens for shooting indoors with ambient lighting, but not the right focal length for family snaps - that's what your smartphone is for! Focusing in low light can be a bit of a challenge. On the X-Pro1 I've tended to switch to Manual, use one of the rear buttons to fire the autofocus, and then tweak it manually using the focus ring. The manual focus ring does take some getting used to, because it's an electronic control, and not directly moving the glass in the lens.

For great low-light and shallow depth of field performance, this is a great buy. When I get an X-Pro2, another one of these would be on my shortlist, but I might go for the newer f2 version simply because of the weather resistance.
