This is my first camera, I have always used a phone before this purchase. Auto mode/sr+ is enough for fast pics but there is plenty of manual controls to play with if you have time. Jpeg size is around 6-8mb which is actually much smaller than latest smartphones but if you zoom in you will find lots of detail. One thing to note is that if you use Google photos app to view images in phone, the image is not displayed in full resolution, it appears pixelated when zoomed in, use another app like simple gallery pro. There is problem of not being able to select raw quality in p mode, you will have to reset settings but it hardly takes few seconds. Battery life may not be enough if you are coming from a smartphone, you will have to use economy power profile and make a habit of switching off camera when not required, switch off bluetooth, reduce display brightness or carry spare battery/power bank, but this is expected from most mirrorless cameras. Supplied carry case/bag is large but locking system is not good. 16gb SanDisk card is supplied. 3:2 aspect ratio captures more detail than default 16:9 aspect ratio. Fujifilm camera remote app cannot transfer raw images, only jpeg. I am attaching a jpeg taken with flower SP mode. Film simulations are fun to play with, but they are available in p mode; sr+ mode has only provia, monochrome and sepia.
