Product Description

After the world was ravaged by a viral apocalypse, Blackwater is one of the only colonies that remains. The survivors came together to create this safe haven. Nestled between a fierce river and a city’s flood wall, the well-being of its residents hangs on a long-established treaty with the night-walkers. Sounds simple enough, but lately, the people of Blackwater have been dying, and the humans believe the night-walkers are to blame.

Porschia Grant starves for more than her parents’ affection. Forced to enter the rotation, she will be given extra food rations in exchange for becoming a vampire’s breakfast and dinner for a week. The rotation has an extra responsibility as well: leave the colony and enter the dangerous forest to hunt for food. A night-walker will protect the hunters from the infected that roam the woods. But with the treaty hanging in the balance and tension between the humans and vampires rising, anything could happen in the darkness.

What would you do if your only chance at survival might kill you?

5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing beginning to an awesome new series! 15 March 2016

I can't believe how much I loved this book! I really had no idea what to expect but Frenzy honestly blew me away.

Casey L. Bond breathed new life into some tired themes, and I was quite literally in a frenzy to devour Frenzy. It was a vivid, detailed, wonderful story of heartache, struggle, and love. I l adored Porschia, I wanted to throttle her mother (that woman!), and I loved the tender moments Porschia shared with her father and brother. Oh, and Mrs. Dillinger? My favorite!

Let's not forget the men in this book (and honestly, it would be impossible). Saul is tender and strong and protective without being an alpha, which was incredbily refreshing. I normally root for the bad boy but I am cheering for Saul. By the end of Frenzy, I was in love with Tage, whose struggle to cling to humanity broke my heart. And Roman? Smoking hot and dangersous as hell. There is a bit of a love triangle in these books (sometimes more like a rectangle) and I normally can't stand love triangles, but this one wasn't annoying because Porschia's feelings are always defined and we know who she wants to end up with.

I will say that it takes a little bit of time to fully grasp what is happening. What is a rotation? Why does Porschia wear colonial-style dresses? Why would night-walkers help the town? But just stick with it. Everything reveals itself by the middle of the story.

The writing is fabulous. The dialogue is smooth and authentic. The world-building is fantastic; I could see everything clearly in my mind. And the emotions that the writing evoked were abundant. I think I highlighted half of the book's words because they were either funny, poignant, or just simply gorgeous.

I can't recommend this book highly enough!

5.0 out of 5 stars OMG I'm in LOVE with this Series!! 20 February 2016

This is book one in the Frenzy series. I was excited before I even started reading this and I wasn't disappointed!!

We meet Porschia who lives in the colony of Blackwater where there have been mysterious deaths. The Majority of the world has been infected and they live in some formality of safety. The night-walkers have formed a treaty with the Elders...they keep us safe if we allow them to feed enough to survive.

Porschia is given a choice by her mother, find a husband or join the rotation...

My mouth was hanging open, so Saul nudged it closed. “What questions do you have? I can see your brain working.”

"What do you do if you see an Infected?"

Saul swallowed. “Run. It’s all you can do.”

It seems she has drawn the attention of two of the night-walkers...the question is whether that's a good thing or a bad thing...

“What part of Do not touch the humans did you not understand?” Roman enunciated every word. Tage just smiled, blood leaking from his lip. “I just wanted a taste.”

This was such a great start to this new and intriguing series!! I can't even imagine what's going to happen next!!
Will she survive the rotation? Will she survive the night-walkers who have shown an interest in her? Are the night-walkers responsible for the mysterious deaths?

I can't wait to see what happens next!! I will warn you, there is quite a cliffhanger which makes me want the next one even more!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth 5 stars but Cliffhanger ending knocked one down, It is a great story! 21 February 2017

This is a very good book. Note, that it does have a cliffhanger ending. And the rest of the books are available through the Kindle Unlimited program, something I truly love.

A world damaged beyond repair by a virus that turns humans in to the 'infected'. Then, in this world, you have tiny pockets of humanity, and the focus is the Blackwater Colony with around 200 people. But it took many years to accumlate such a population.

Then, there are the night-walkers. Vampires. And every one, the infected, the colonists and the night-walkers are starving.

No hot water. Do your laundry in the one river even in the snow. And if you are dying from hunger, you can get extra rations
by participating in what is called the rotation. For a week, you feed the night-walkers twice a day. And at night, they take you out to hunt for food. Rabbits, and other small game and if lucky, a deer.

We have Porchia, whose mother seriously sucks, her father is too soft spoken and her brother Ford is reckless.

When they go out on the rotation nights, each human wears a ring containing vampire blood. To be used only if an infected is about to get you and chomp on you.

I would have given this five stars had it not been for that cliffhanger ending.

I recommend this book for any fans of Hunger Games, and the like. It really is well written and well edited.

On to book two!
4.0 out of 5 stars I'm in a Frenzy! 12 March 2016

I love Casey Bond's writing! The places felt real and I could picture myself "being there". I felt the concern of the female lead and empathy for the life she lead. The idea of humans and zombies living in the same universe was cool. The vampires acting as a "buffer" was nice too.

What I didn't like about the book, for me, was the lack of personal connection to the characters. I wanted to get to know them and live their life with them. I would have loved to root for them and care for what they were enduring. But I just couldn't. Did I like them? Yes! Will I read the next book? Absolutely!

Frantic (The Frenzy Series Book 2) is already up in my Kindle queue and ready for me to read. Grab a copy of Frantic for yourself... You will love the talent and imagination that is Casey Bond!

5.0 out of 5 stars Zombies and Vampires Oh My!! 14 February 2016

This book is one of my absolute favorites! I devoured it in one evening and now I am going insane waiting to know what happens next.

I have read quite a few books by author Casey Bond. I love the originality of her stories and the fact that I never know where she will go with each character or the plot. I have many times slammed my kindle shut and wanted to pull my hair out at some of the craziness that comes from her mind. LOL That's what makes her work so exciting to read and the fact that her charcters always have substance to them. Frenzy is no exception. The ending left my jaw hitting the floor!
"Now that he'd tasted eternal life, did he crave the empty solace of death?"

In the colony of Blackwater where Porschia lives, there are mysterious deaths that are being blamed on the night-walkers. Fears are high but the need for food is more pressing. Porschia must be strong and volunteer to go on rotation to bring in food from outside the walls. Not only does she have to be escorted by a night-walker, but beyond their safe haven are the infected that only care about eating the flesh of humans. I love that the story has both vampires and undead, zombie like creatures. Danger comes from all directions in this action packed story.
"When life was so fragile, and survival so difficult, rushing seemed like the thing to do."

Another thing that makes this book so great is the poetic way the author writes. Her words and descriptions flow so nicely. I could visualize the colony and the devastation outside the walls. I felt as if I was there watching everything transpire and not sitting reading a book on my sofa.
"Standing alone near the water's edge, I watched the swirling torrent just beneath the falls and let the rush of the water fill my ears."

An exciting story with a kick ass leading female character. I can not wait to read book 2 and 3, but until then I am already rereading Frenzy. It's that fangtastic! I highly recommend this book!
"In a place I felt sure that failure would find me again, I found hope."
