And after struggling with the standoffs for an hour, it was depressing to find that with the motherboard didn't line up with the IO shield because the side the mobo screws into isn't aligned right. Ended up needing to loosen the standoffs at the top to add some height to compensate for the veer.
The provided screws to attach HDDs to the plastic hard drive trays weren't the right threading, making it difficult to fasten the HDDs to the overlarge trays since they popped right out with enough pressure. Ended up using some old screws with less dense threads.
And once we had assembled everything else and had the final step to attach the power supply cables to the hard drives, we realized that the SSD which we had attached to the side of the case (blithely following an optional step in the instructions) didn't have enough clearance to comfortably attach a PSU cable that has wires emerging from a right angle (which was all of them connectors for this PSU). The SSD can't be removed from that location without removing the motherboard as well. This one's partially on us, but a heads-up on the instructions about positioning feasibility sure would have been nice.
Going to return it. Pretty bummed.
Never in my life I have had motherboard mounting screws fail so hard during installations. Everyone knows not to tighten the motherboard too hard to the mounted screws, but these failed even before that point.
The worst part is, even if I wanted to remove the mother board, the broken mounted screws will spin with the lukewarm tight screws, so the motherboard is stuck to the case forever. I can't even return this piece of garbage case, because my expansive motherboard cannot be freed from the failed mounted screws.
Stay away from this case. Your motherboard will awkwardly become stuck to the case forever. The case metal feels very cheap and rusted even though I bought a brand new case.
