I wore a Bellabeat Leaf for a year but the silver clasp kept getting stuck on things and I was sometimes asked what time it was by people who thought I was wearing a watch. I had to take it off to swim and eventually lost it. I figured I might as well get a new health tracker that worked as a watch, too, and this one is perfect. You don't need an instruction manual because all that information is in the app you'll download to your phone when you receive the watch. Just download the fossil q app, follow instructions to sync the watch to the app and you're good to go.
This has a large face for a women's watch but it's very pretty and it was incredibly easy to resize the band (several of the small rectangles within the links open completely and can come off so you don't need tools to make it smaller, just remove as many links as you need). Plus, I can shower and swim in it, which I couldn't do with the Leaf.
My only complaints - I wish it had indiglo and I wish it was waterproof. Otherwise, it has been a fantastic upgrade from my last watch without the ridiculous frills of having a mini smartphone on my wrist.
All in all, this works for me and I’d purchase it again. But I’m only giving 4 stars because there are a few cons. First, I wish there were a half-link provided for the band. My watch is loose, so when it buzzes for texts or calls I don’t always feel it. But if I take out another link it’s really tight. Next, when I first got the watch, one of the buttons was set to music, so I’d accidentally hit it and Pandora would start playing on my phone (when the app wasn’t even open!) I switched that preset to ring my phone when I lose it, which seems like a great feature....but it doesn’t always work, even when I’m in very close proximity to my phone. Finally, I had to contact customer service to figure out how the activity tracker button works. I looked in the booklets that came with the watch, but nothing explained it. Apparently there’s a smaller circle on the watch with 0-100, so if you push the button the watch hands both move to the III, and then look at the black end of the minute hand and it’ll point to the % of goal in that smaller circle. Now I know!
UPDATE - listing says battery lasts 4-6mos, but after 2.5mos I got the notice that it’s low. And I usually don’t even wear it on weekends. I’m going to let up go until it actually stops working, but I really doubt it’ll keep ticking until the 4mo mark.
