5.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Read from the Healers of Melinga Series 30 March 2017
By Heather Rainwater-Alvarado - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Forsaken Power is probably my favorite book so far in the Healers of Melinga series. Colt picks up right where Blood Sacrifice (Book 3) left off which is something I love about her writing style. She doesn't waste your time restating what has happened in the previous books. In this book, she's able to expand on the very different city of Bivinia and the unique creatures that are found in that land. Finally some good things come to trickle down to the main character in the series, Adenine, who is able to begin improving the lives of the people of Bivinia. It introduces her to leadership with highlights on her struggles to move forward to the world she envisions for the people. That does not mean that this is an easy read with few challenges. Colt is also finally able to expand on Adenine's romance(s) which is what I yearn to read in an epic fantasy read. Although she still refuses to follow mainstream authors, she instead adds her own twist to romance. Her characters continue to evolve and have developed into complex characters that you grow to love or even dislike, while introducing and building new characters. In my opinion, this book has the most unexpected plot twists and developments to date which makes Forsaken Power an exciting read. I'm very excited to see what KJ Colt has in store for us in her next book in the series set to release later this year.
5.0 out of 5 stars Forsaken Power - The Healers Of Meligna - Book #4 27 May 2017

Adenine's life continues on at an insane pace. One of war, love, promises, duty, deception, honor, hatred and murder. The Queens of Meligna seem to have everything their way. Adenine and her love triangle with Emperor Eiridan of Bivinia and Nallael of Ruxdor is causing more trouble then she is capable of handling. Bivinia and Rudorian rulers must work together to bring war against the Queens but at the same time trying to limit the amount of casualties to the Senyan people being held captives. This is a long but deeply moving story about the trials and tribulations of Adenine, her friends, war partners and their enemies. I highly recommend this book series. Now on to book 5.

Forsaken Power (The Healers of Meligna) (Volume 4)by K.J. Colt

I received and read (devoured) a copy of the fourth installment in this series of books and I have got to say that it is awesome. By all means don't take my word for it; but check it out yourself.

If you haven't started this series and are a fan of SFF and Epic fantasy then I would suggest you get started.

If you've read the first three and you are like me then you should get ready for the big release coming soon or order the paperback today.

Adenine has the best of luck and the worst of luck and now she's the Rider of the Pegan Sala, while Prince Eiridan had expected that honor. It wasn't by deception it was just that she didn't want the Prince to die when he flung himself off the edge with the blind faith that Sala would chose him. Sala had made a choice and now along with her power to heal Adenine is a rider and has access to other peoples thoughts through Sala. This was one gift that Eiridan was hoping for, for himself. But he has a solution that plays into his ever growing love for Adenine and that is to make her his Empress when he becomes Emperor.

Adenine would love to give this gift of being the rider over to Eiridan; but soon she'll discover that not only does Eiridan have some dark secrets he's kept from her, even the Pegan's have a dark secret that can spell nothing but trouble for Adenine and her plans. How much will she be willing to give up to save her country and her people; how much will she compromise?

As usual this novel contains tremendous world building on a new and fresh landscape in fantasy.

Well crafted characters with a balance of dark and light - good and evil in almost every character. The main character will steal your heart away, while making you shake your head at her flaws that make her her own worst enemy at times.

I'm not usually a fan of those series that look like they might go on forever but this one has captivated me with K.J. Colt's crisp clear writing and twisty imagination that constantly presents something new and intriguing into the world the plot and the character development.

Never a dull moment with Adenine.

Even if you aren't usually a fan of epic fantasy. you might find this to your liking; but be prepared to occasionally be dragged into a darker side that might force you out of your comfort zone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Forsaken Power is Colt's best yet 3 July 2015

The fourth - and second to last - book in the Healers of Meligna series is KJ Colt's best work yet. Fans of the series - whether you love Adenine, relate to her, or are endlessly frustrated by her - will love discovering how she grows and changes throughout the course of the book. Despite the strides she makes, Adenine retains the traits that are essentially her, and Colt avoids the all-to-common pitfall of having her heroine change so quickly as to be unbelievable.

Readers' interest will be captured and held by the numerous roles Adenine takes on - friend, lover, rival, Rider, warleader, lost soul... The pacing is excellent; despite this amount of variation which prevents any dragging or boredom, Colt manages to tie all the elements of her story together smoothly and seamlessly.

Most exciting of all, the book is chock full of shocking revelations and developments that expertly set the stage for the final installment in the series. I am on the edge of my seat.
5.0 out of 5 stars Have tissues and pillow at the ready!!!! 10 January 2016

Yet again I was grabbed into this book and did not want to put it down. However, there were times I wanted to throw it, pound something or someone, oh and whips would be good as well. Good thing this was on my kindle, so turning it off and walking away a moment was the best choice, but it did not last long before I was back into the book again entranced in this world of intrigue.

I will warn you to have a box of tissues and a pillow to punch it will help and be careful not to yell at the book when others are around so they don't think you lost it. Good thing my family ignores me when I am reading. (LOL) I want to talk more about what I read however I don't want to tell you about the story in the process, that is for you to enjoy and discover. I will say there are a lot of twists and turns each time you think you have it another piece of the puzzle is added or at least reveiled.

It is my hope that you enjoy this adventure with Adinine as much as I have though I am eagerly awaiting for the next book., though I am not great with the patient part. Why is it not here already!!!!! (giggles)
