4.0 out of 5 stars a special and creative series 29 August 2016

4.5 stars!

“Madness—that old, dear friend of mine—has come home for a visit. And I welcome its return with open arms.”

In this third installment in The Collector's Society series, Alice of Wonderland must act fast in order to save those closest to her. Things become more dangerous as the members of the society uncover more truths, and unexpected information comes forth about those who have acted against them and seek to do more harm.

It's up to Alice and her people to find more answers and to save timelines in danger of being destroyed. Though the odds are against them, the fight has become personal and Alice will stop at nothing to keep those she cares about safe and unharmed.

“To follow blindly is to yield possession of your own compass.”

This is such a special and creative series, I cannot think of anything else out there like it! I love Lyon's interpretations of characters and stories from classic novels that we are already familiar with. I love the idea that characters have a hidden story outside that which we see, a very unique retelling/new creation.

In this book we got lots more answers as to who was deleting the timelines and how, now we just need the why. Whenever I read this series I always find myself wanting to run off and read or reread classic stories mentioned within. My favorite character is Grimsdyke the spider; if he wasn't a spider I would hug the crap out of that little creature. If only we could all have a cool spider assassin to keep us company wherever we went.

Action packed and thrilling from the very first page, this is a series you cannot miss out on! The ending was crazy! I cannot wait to read the next book.

“If this isn't a fairy tale, then I don't know what else to call it.”

"Madness - that old, dear friend of mine - has come home for a visit. And I welcome its return with open arms."

That is exactly how I felt when I finished this book. I don't even know where to begin.

This book here, The Forgotten Mountain is the reason why I started this series. I came across the book cover and immediately fell in love with it. I was completely mesmerized by it. Then I read the premise for the Collector's Society and I couldn't help myself. I read and read until I couldn't stop. I fell in love with it all.

The book picks up right where The Hidden Library left off. And for that, I am thankful. Like the previous books, this one does not disappoint. There is definitely action from the very beginning.

I’ve had a flutter of butterflies that have taken residence within me since I started reading this book. The more I read, the more intense they felt. There were times when I felt like I was going to burst because of the intensity or suspense of the book. And that there is exactly what I look for in a book. Something that I can lose myself in. Something that can bring me to the edge of my seat and keep me wondering and hoping.

I have to say, Heather has a gift; to tell a tale and twist many into one and still have a good outcome. I loved that we got to know the A.D. A LOT more! There is more to him than just being a Master Thief. There are more sides to him that Alice certainly noticed, although she didn’t admit to anyone. But she noticed, and coming from The Queen of Diamonds, that’s a lot to say.

I absolutely loved Alice. Her attitude and the drive that she had to overcome the trials that they were presented with. I loved that she was able to develop and cultivate her relationship with Mary. I loved that they were both there for each other, and that they never gave up. They were both strong female characters that wouldn’t take no for an answer.

The relationship between Alice and Finn was as good as or even better than the previous books. They both knew what they wanted and were willing to do anything for the other.

"Hold on, love. Even if it requires me moving heaven and earth, I will find a way to fix this. All I ask of you is to hold on."

There were moments that I wanted to cry because of what they were enduring as a couple. They had already been through so much, how either of them could handle more was beyond me. But they did. Because they had something that not many experience in their lives…

"True love encourages you to live."

I do have to say, that the last chapter in this book gave me severe anxiety. So much so that I was in tears. I felt like I couldn’t breathe because of what was going on. I thought I was going mad/insane. I wanted to reach right into my iPad and pluck her out and set her straight.

I enjoyed every bit of this book. From the main characters, to the minor ones. And the turn of events with everything that was going on and the attacks on the society. I seriously can’t wait for the next book to be released. This has turned out to be one of my favorite series. Thank you Heather for your gift, and for your willingness to share with us - your readers.
5.0 out of 5 stars Twisted fairy tale 22 June 2017

Holy Crap, what an unexpected ending. This book picks up exactly where The Hidden Library left off. Finn and Victor are stranded in a timeline and the society including their father think they are dead. Alice refuses to believe that hope is lost and is after Gabriel who they learned that is responsible for Finn's mother and the rest of the catalyst's theft and timeline murder. Alice, Victor, Mary and the A.D are on the hunt in an unexpected timeline. I love how Ms. Lyons has taken all the fairy tales that we grew up on and fractures them beyond recognition.

This series keeps getting darker and better with each new book. As Alice and Finn dive deeper into the mystery of who is behind the destruction of time lines, their lives and the lives of those they love most are put in increasing danger. Alice and Finn's romance grows stronger and yet somehow I still found myself yearning for a HEA for Jace! I don't know how Heather always manages to make me so throughly confused as to whom to root for, but she has managed it once again. This book ends in a MAJOR cliffhanger, so be careful if you're not a fan of those. I've been slowly dying waiting to read what happens next. Well done Mrs. Lyons!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just when you think you've figured out the game....Boom! 25 June 2015

Just when I thought I had the game mapped out, Heather Lyons wrote The Forgotten Mountain and threw me for a total loop. It’s everything I’ve come to expect from The Collectors’ Society series, but with a whole new twist. It’s just as deceptive and winding as the previous books in the series, yet also innovative in a completely different way. If you haven't read the first two books in the series, this review will contain spoilers.

“But time is not always a generous mistress. Time allows slow changes, the warping of beliefs based upon observations both common and uncommon.”

Heather Lyons once again takes beloved characters of stories past and adds her own spin to them while still maintaining a level of authenticity. The highlight for me though was getting to really see a different side of all her characters in the third book. With the fates of their men unknown, Alice and Mary really have to become even stronger than readers have previously experienced. Though we saw pieces and knew Alice's inclinations, it shone so much more prominently in The Forgotten Mountain. If you're a fan of Alice, I have no doubts you will love her more by novel's end! While I had appreciated all the characters in the first two books, different attributions appear and relationships are formed, that made me adore them even more.

“Make no mistake about it: we are at war. We fight not only for ourselves, but for those who will never meet us, who will never know our names. I am asking much of you all. When you joined the Collectors’ Society, you probably could not fathom that someday you would be asked to put your life on the line for those you will never know.”

As we're brought further into the mystery of what has happened, I find myself yearning more and more to never escape this adult fantasy series. The Forgotten Mountain is action-packed with equal parts of suspense and romance. Lyons enchants in both an exciting and nostalgic manner. Once you pick it up, prepare to lose several hours of time because the last thing you'll want to do is put it down.

“Madness – that old, dear friend of mine – has come home for a visit. And I welcome its return with open arms.”

I have been so strongly pulled into this fantasy world that Heather Lyons has created. The characters are nefarious and complicated, mysterious and nostalgic. The crossover between stories readers have come to love is absolute brilliance. Not to mention, the writing style of Lyons is unpredictable and mesmerizing. What she has done is so inventive and works perfectly for the ideas she spins with these personalities. If you haven’t started this series yet, you are seriously missing it out. The Forgotten Mountain is the best yet, and I have no doubt that the series will go out with a bang in the next book!
