Joan de Laurent, after loosing 3 fiancés to death's door believes herself cursed, never to have the family she hungers for. Irish Prince Prince Ronan, blames himself for the death of his brother and nephew, he may need Joan in gaining the aid of her family in regaining his place and saving his father, but he refuses to bring a child into the world, not when his nephew lays dead because of him. Neither Ronan and Joan wish to marry, their fear is to great, but neither can they deny the potent attraction they feel for one another.
For some reason I never found myself truly drawn into the story and characters.
I've not read the two books before this one, and can say this makes for a comfortable standalone read.
