It turns out You really can't help who u fall in love with! And sometimes you can't help who you fall out of love with!
I will surely be reading more from her.

The two main characters I found unbelievable and unrealistic. Whilst yes you can feel a "spark" with someone and I believe you can fall in love at first sight I also think you are in control of your own actions.
OK, first time they ended up together Annie didn't know that he was married. However his excuse "he didn't know how to tell her" wouldn't fly with me.
Before you start something new, break off the old. You are grown people. All the forward and backwards about their relationships and basically him cheating on his wife I just didn't like.
I do like that she attempted to break out of the "rich guy/ poor girl" mould for this genre however for me it didn't really work.
To me this book was rather unbelievable, soppy and in short, not for me!
It has been a very long time since I have picked up a book and been completely consumed by it and finished it in one sitting but The Forbidden did just that. From page one Annie had me hooked, I fell for her instantly. The way her character is written makes it near impossible to not to fall in love with her, her and her friends. She is head strong, fierce and knows what she wants out of life. She has a job that she loves and is happy devoting her hours to designing breath taking buildings for her clients. Enter Jack. Jack is enough to make any woman fall to her knees. He is dominating, possessive and gorgeous. The chemistry between Annie and Jack oozes off the page from the moment they meet and only grows and intensifies the longer they are in each other's company. Look up passion inn the dictionary and I am certain there will be a picture of these two!
Their story isn't easy, but what good story is? The Forbidden theme is not one I condone but everyone's circumstances are different and I would never judge anyone for making a hard choice. This is the kind of story that you pick up because you know how good Jodi's writing is but you keep reading it because you need to know where she is going to take you. The story is complicated and captivating and it will make you feel. Your heart will become permanently lodged in your throat due to all kinds of emotions, that or it will threaten to beat out of your chest!
Be prepared, once you pick up this book, to forget about life. To forget the world carrying on around you and to threaten people who try to distract you from the story. You will be consumed, you will want to devour the whole book and you will feel everything this amazing story has to offer!
I just wish I could give it more stars!
Fate works for them when Annie is the architect and Jack is the contractor on an elevation extension to an art gallery and they collaborate seamlessly. But goes against her when she finds out that he is married at her house warming party. He was not wearing a ring and did not tell her he was married previously. She is scattered and full of guilt but now she is in too deep to walk away.
The mysterious Jack is rich, owns his own firm JACK JOSEPH CONTRACTORS and has posh offices in a plush building. He is married to Stephanie.
This excellently written book of Jodi Ellen Malpas is her eight. Many twists and turns are featured in the story and will make you want to read on and on... All Annie's friends have an opinion on her relationship with Jack. But what will your opinion be on Annie and Jack's situation? Will you be for or against?
The Forbidden is a captivating read from the very beginning and it becomes even more so when Jack and Annie meet each other. Nothing is forced, it's a beautiful moment and it feels meant to be... even this early on.
Unfortunately and it comes as a shock, Jack is married... it's the first of many shocks, however Jack and Annie can't stay away from each other. Now J.E.M isn't giving much away about Jack but one things for sure we know he's in a loveless marriage, one he should never have entered, Stephanie's behaviour is odd, something's not right even his friend Richard confirms as much.
What are the chances... Jack and Annie having to work together on a project, it's as if fate and destiny are purposely bringing them together.
Since meeting Annie, Jack realises even more so that his marriage to Stephanie is very wrong but he stays with her because of her unpredictable and manipulating behaviour.
Every situation is different and we are all quick to judge and this happens to Annie, she becomes that women... the other woman, this is why they keep their relationship a secret.
The Forbidden intensifies as Jack and Annie are forced to sneak around, grabbing moments here and there, apart from Richard nobody knows and at this stage they make do because they know they can't do much else. There are times when Annie try's to jeopardise their relationship because she knows it's wrong but to be honest it's only wrong in everybody else's eyes certainly not in jacks. Let's face it, Jack is or was hardly a serial cheater he just met the women he was meant to be with all along.
As Jack and Annie's relationship continues you have to wonder how things will work in their favour, after all couldn't Jack just walk away from Stephanie it seems simple enough but it's not because Stephanie is a liability and he needs to tread carefully.
You know it's only a matter of time before something happens that will complicate things add to that the secrecy that surrounds Jack and Annie and it feels like The Forbidden becomes just that The Forbidden... when it comes to the big reveal Stephanie beats Annie to it and this comes as another shock... what now!
From this moment on this story has you completely riveted, it's gets emotional in parts and its a worrying time for obvious reasons and the only consultation is Annie's friends now know but with a Stephanie waiting in the wings you know it's not over yet...oh dear.
It's absolute chaos as Stephanie does her worst and we wait with bated breath for the outcombe we've been hoping for.
The Forbidden is a very thought provoking story and it's J.E.M at her best... loved the ending..!!
But I admire the work that Ms Malpas produces and for that reason alone I was willing to set aside the fact that I had a hankering that this was going to push boundaries, limits that I have set for myself and touch on subjects that don’t necessary sit comfortably with me…but did I like what I got or was it a step too far?
Well in the main I would have to say that this was what I had anticipated from Ms Malpas, it was a story that refused to bow, refused to give way to expectation and that was determined to stand it ground, it was a marmite read and I think that on the whole I found that it was one that I could reconcile.
One night was never going to be enough for this pair, Annie and Jack were like moths to a flame, their attraction defied reason, laughed in the face of acceptability and refused to slip quietly into the shadows but that where expectation determined that it had to remain...but could it?
The angst and torment that existed between the two of them as their story was laid bare was as I have come to expect from Ms Malpas. The depiction of the heartache that Annie and Jack were experiencing was almost tangible through the screen of my kindle but the stutter of a heart that was being slowly dissected was beautifully brutal in its clarity.
Was Jack the man that I thought he would be, could he be the man that Annie wanted him to be and moreover did he have it in him to be the man that he need to be for himself…. for me that was what the story almost hinged upon and while I didn’t take kindly to the fact that he was in the situation to start with, I couldn’t help but hope that he had it in him to win me around.
I thought the fact that this story dwelt or should I say leant heavy on a topic that can and in many cases, is intensely destructive was a brave decision, not everything in life is black and white and this for me revelled in the grey area that so often provided the highlights to what is or can be a dull existence.
I understand why the author settled on this title and I applaud her for the risk she took with this subject matter and for the intensity of the characterisation.
Overall, I would say that this lives up to the star billing, it tackles its situation head on and once you get to grips with that, you will find a story that is at times more emotionally raw than you would have anticipated.
