Buffy meets Game of Thrones.

Born in shame. Cast from society. Shape Shifter/Elf hybrid, Forest must fight for any respect she can get. Targeted in her youth by a vampire noble who placed an illegal slave mark on her, she is forced to obey him, no matter what.

Slipping the grip of her master and abandoning the prejudice of Regia, her native world, Forest takes a job on Earth, guarding the portal, using her skills as a warrior to enforce Regia's laws. Now, called home for a black ops mission, Forest must put aside her own prejudice to transport the vampire prince, Syrus, through enemy territory in a time of war.

Prince Syrus, mage and master of the Blood Kata, wants Forest more than he's ever wanted anything. In spite of their mutual mistrust, their attraction cannot be denied. Through the danger of their mission, and the secrets they both keep, it doesn't matter what they feel. Forest is forbidden.

This is a full novel. Book 1 of 7 in The Legends of Regia Series. The series is complete and available in box set on KU.

A new spinoff series, The Shadows of Regia is coming Sep. 29th!

At first i Honestly was not sure about this book i mean, how many mythical creatures can you put in one place? But I continued on reading because well, Forest is just so funny. She made me laugh and i really loved her view on... Pretty much EVERYTHING and then Syrus came into it and i figured it was pretty obvious what was going to happen but again... I kept reading because in truth i am uterly obsessed and inlove with these charactors and the story. I love how annoyed she gets and i love how sweet he is about her! Ummm when he watches her sleep, cute cute cute.
HIGHLY recommending this book. Just got number 2 amd excited to start it :-)

I have laughed so many times, reading this book. A sweatshirt with "Team Jacob" on, too funny! I love Forest, she is absolutely amazing. She's got a temper, she's strong, witty, independent. Syrus is kinda perfect. He is strong and vulnerable at the same time. I really enjoyed following them on their journey, seeing their relationship grow, change.

This is the first story of this genre that I have read. I found it was good reading with plenty of action. It requires the readers to concentrate on the story to maintain all aspects of its mixture.

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes You A Believer 26 March 2017

What an amazing story full of suspense, betrayal, love, and definitely heart rending scenes. The prejudice against Forest has followed her throughout her entire life and to think that Shi is the only one that she feels truly loves her is enough to sadden even a hardened heart. What Leigh has done to her should mark him for death, and Syrus is being pulled from all sides. This plot is rich in the story being told, and the characters are nicely developed to keep you turning the page to see what is to happen next. The ending will floor you, but then it is a cliffhanger leading into the next book in the series. I can't wait to read "Forest's Fire"

The content is relatively benign so that it would qualify as YA appropriate. I give this story 5 Stars because it is just that good. If you like to read a full bodied story then this is one you'd want to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Are you looking for a new author to follow or series to dive into, then this is a gem you want to check out 11 November 2015

I read to be entertained and to forget about everything going on in my job, my mundane life, and the world as reported by the news. I enjoy stories that can grab my attention and imagination and run with them, kind of like a dog running across of field for the sheer joy of running. I read for the sheer joy of reading and mentally escaping for just a few moments of life. This is a jewel of a story, more enjoyable for me because I picked it at random without expectation because I did not know anything about the author. I love finding a new author or new series to follow in the fantasy genre and this one gets high marks from me. There were moments when I had tears in my eyes because I could feel the pain of Forest, the main female character, like when Cyris, the vampire she doesn't want to care about, reads her memories and discovers painful things she wants to keep hidden. Well written and a unique perspective and story line given it includes werewolves, vampires, elves, and other mystical creatures. This one easily passed my 10 percent rule - if I can't get into the story within the first 10 percent of the book then I'm probably not going to finish reading it. This one was out of the park well before that point. Great job.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant! just bloody brilliant! 17 May 2015

Warning! Will leave you buying the next book with a cliffhanging ending.

if your like me and like to be a little cheap or scout for a bargain, then look no further!! I found the book for you!

Strong female character named Forest who is of mixed breed (elf and shapeshifter) which is apparently looked down on, has to look after and escort a vampire prince who is surpose to be dead into a forest which is filled with crazy wacked out werewolves who would like nothing better than to kill him where he stands, to find a wizard whos hidden to restore the princes eyesight! Did I mention that she hates hates hates vampires?

recommend to any lovely person who just enjoys a good fantasy romance book. Young or old I think you'll all enjoy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highest marks to the author 19 July 2014

And we have another winner! Another book that basically made me useless to the world and emotionally traumatized my little readerly heart. Highest marks to the author.

The plot:
One of my absolute favorite things about indie books is that I’ve noticed that they tend to be more “to the point.” There’s none of this big, looping, long, boring string of Stuff before you get to the good parts. (No offense to traditional, some of my favorites are traditional.) Anyway, this book was action packed, romance packed, suspense packed, just over all packed.

One thing that did bother me was the omniscient perspective. There were parts where perspective was swapped through the course of a scene and I felt like it should have been more consistent or maybe broken up to make it clear who was talking.

The characters:
Syrus and Forest are simultaneously adorable, hot, and hilarious together. Their banter and Syrus’ enthusiasm for human paraphernalia were so cute and I love the idea of the big bad vampire prince scrounging the pantry for Froot Loops, that’s not something you hear about every day.

I liked how their relationship was equal—there wasn’t one dominating the other. A lot of times—particularly in vampire romance—there’s the alpha male stuff. It’s fine every now and again, but it was refreshing to have a vampire love interest who’s a master in martial arts and also lovingly tells his girl what a bad@$$ she is.

There is a laundry list of characters who need to have an unfortunate meeting with Buffy or perhaps the Winchester boys in a back alley—Leith, Philippe, Christiana, Zephyre, it goes on—so there will be plenty of baddies to get their just desserts come the next books.

I very much want the next book, it’s just a matter of how soon I can get it. And the book after that. And the prequel novella. Really, I just want them all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great characters, great new world, lots of action 2 July 2016

What a great story! The author has a wonderful writing style that swept me into the story from page one, terrific character development and an action packed plot line that will not disappoint fantasy fans. The romance lover in me also really enjoyed the growing relationship between the hero and heroine. It was a very well-done accompaniment to the greater, "Regia on the crux of world war" storyline and I am looking forward to finding out how the continuation of this story unfolds. I liked this book enough to buy the next in the series. Recommended.
