Forbidden Bonds is an action packed, paranormal romance with a unique world and well developed characters. Lexi's writing is engaging, the story is interesting, and I never wanted to put the book down. I had an awesome time diving back into this world, and I think you will, too. I bet you'll enjoy your time there even more this time around!

What a great story and I can’t wait to find out more about Lizzie and her new neighbour:)
Forbidden Bonds is the second book in the Immortal Curse Series by Lexi C. Foss. This is a spellbinding paranormal romance with action, adventure, suspense, drama, immortals, violence, danger, sexy strong women and panty melting Alpha male types, wonderful romance and erotic encounters.
I really recommend reading book one before starting this story- because, even though the books are based on different characters, there is a continuing story which is laid out in the first book- introducing characters, back stories and other relevant information that would make this book far more enjoyable to have all those details first.
I adored the first book ‘Blood Laws’ so much and was excited about going on to the next book. I was a tiny bit worried that I may not like the main characters as much as I wanted to. We meet the main characters from this book in ‘Blood Laws’, and I was intrigued to get to know them better and delve into the story further. Ms. Foss didn’t let me down, as this story is every bit as good as the first and I ended up loving Tom and Amelia more than I ever thought I could. This story picks up where ‘Blood Laws’ left off, and had me flipping pages and on the edge of my seat right from the beginning. To say I was hooked would be putting it mildly, I couldn’t put it down and read it in one session.
Tom Fitzgerald is a former special forces soldier who had been groomed by his father from a very early age to become a lethal weapon. He’s a Sentinel in fathers company, the company he’s being groomed to one day take over. He’s grown up idolising his father, trying to emulate him and live up to his father’s very high expectations. But as the years have worn on, cracks have appeared in his father’s perfect facade, and Tom begins to question his father’s motives and agendas. When Tom angers his father, he is ‘punished’ by being put on babysitting duty, looking after a very valuable asset.
Amelia Wakefield, the asset, was dead, or so all her friends and family thought. But instead she’s been under lock and key, a lab rat held in captivity for so many years that she’s lost track of time. She has been subjected to horrendous experimentation and torture by the researchers who are trying to unravel the source and extent of her immortal abilities. There are days where the pain and abuse were so bad that she thought she’d go mad. She feels like a part of her is missing and has given up hope of ever being rescued or getting out of her confinement.
But when Tom realises what has been happening to Amelia, he is happy to get her away from the research facility. He doesn’t agree with his father’s methods and can’t believe his father would allow this to happen. But Tom has a history and a situation that tie him to his father, he has nowhere else to go and feels a little trapped in this situation himself.
As these two spend time together, a begrudging respect and a little trust develops between them. When their circumstances turn deadly they are forced to flee, with only each other to rely on. They are thrust into a situation which neither could have predicted, set on a course that will change their lives forever. With their feelings for one another growing stronger every day and their passions ignited, can they stay one step ahead of danger and allow their love to blossom, or are they headed straight for disaster?
OMG!!! WOW!!! I have said it before and I say it again, I am in awe of how truly talented Ms. Foss is, she truly is a brilliant author who has limitless creativity and imagination. Her indisputable skill was again evident throughout this book- in building such a fantastic, believable and exciting ‘world’ in which to set this brilliant story, as well as creating a complex, multi-layered storyline that’s so packed full of mysterious wonder and intrigue, and then consummately crafting fantastic characters that are realistic, relatable and extremely endearing.
This is quickly becoming one of my all-time favourite series. I can’t wait for the next book!
Thank you, Ms. Foss!
This story is about Tom and Amelia, we previously saw then in the first book, where Tom finds himself babysitting Amelia, which is the last thing he wants, he wants revenge and she is messing with his plans. You will find yourself disliking Tom, he is working for the enemy, he is not a nice guy but as you start to see the real Tom, you will find yourself surprisingly changing your opinion of him.
Amelia won’t allow herself and she can’t afford to get comfortable, she has been tortured by the hands of the enemy for too long. What she needs is to get stronger and then plan her escape. She will learn all he has to teach her, strive to be the best she can. Will the lies between them become too much? What happens when the bond between you is something it should not be? Can you find love with an enemy?
I enjoyed reading this book and loved the captivating supernatural world and characters that we faced in this series. It is a fast paced and action packed read that you should not miss.

This happened for me with Tom and Amelia (and one or two of the supporting crew...Oh B where are you in my life!!). Tom hadn't been one of my favourites from Blood Laws, but I think maybe that was the plan all along, afterall with an Ichorian father, whose side was he really on?
Forbidden Bonds continues right after the events in Blood Laws (so should really be read first). As punishment, Tom is sent on a "baby sitting" mission to a place that haunts him, with an important asset he's been secretly trying to protect. Amelia, has suffered so much, but together, they need to learn to trust each other to survive.
I loved this book as much as the first, it has action, intrigue, tension, heart ache and a story line that hooked me in from the start. The way their characters developed and their relationship grew was beautiful, but heartbreaking at times when it's revealed what both have been through and the betrayals they've suffered. I'd also love to meet the Hydrians, the banter between them relieves the tension and Balthazar is certainly a scene stealer! Can't wait for more of the Immortal Curse series, I thoroughly recommend it.
In Blood Laws, Tom came across as a bit of an arse (to coin an Amelia term lol), and so it was with a little trepidation that I opened the pages of Forbidden Bonds....within a chapter, I was hooked. Tom is FABULOUS. He's certainly got a chequered past which has moulded the man he is today, but the growth in his character was a joy to watch. And phew....the man is HOT and SWOONWORTHY.
Amelia too, goes on quite a journey. I'll warn you now, there are some pretty difficult scenes with Amelia - but the fact she comes out of the other side stronger, more tenacious, more amazing is testament to Lexi's development of her character throughout the novel.
It was also brilliant to get more of Balthazar who is my absolute fave...bar none. While the next two books in the series aren't going to focus on B, I am not averse to begging.....yes begging (and possibly bribing) the author to consider giving us B's story.
I highly recommend Forbidden Bonds, but do check out Blood Laws first to get a true understanding of the story and world building.
I honestly was not expecting to like Tom all that much, in the first book he gave off an almost bratty quality, like he thought he was god gift and everyone should listen to him and his judgement. He had this jealousy about him which back then didn't make sense but now after reading Forbidden Bonds, all makes sense to me.
Throughout his life he's been putting on a persona, a cloak so that people don't see the real him. He's troubled, and any self respecting female goes weak in the knees for that kind of trouble.
Amelia had this unbeatable quality, she's one hell of a resilient character and one hell of a woman which you'll see why when you read the book. She's endearing and you can't help falling in love with her too.
The whole world that Lexi has created has me excited and you can't help but read and be immersed. The complexity of the characters, the way she builds the tension. She has it all and you can't help but want more. I truly cannot wait for the next one. I'll be waiting with bated breath until then.
