'My favorite image was of her standing on a beach, her milky-white skin glowing against her black crochet bikini. She was partially turned away from the camera, her body angled toward the ocean behind her, her eyes looking straight through the screen into mine. One hand restrained her flowing hair, the other was extended to the camera, beckoning, as if to say, Follow me.'
I LOVED this book, friends. LOVED it. In fact, I'm giving it 4.5 stalker-ish stars!
A cautionary tale about the perils of social media, Audrey's story hits very close to home...especially as a mother of two teens. Told from alternating points of view...those of Audrey, her best friend, Cat, and the ominous "Him," I found myself with a very keen desire to cover my laptop webcam with duct tape.
Kathleen Barber did an excellent job of providing a large number of suspects, which will keep you guessing until the very end. I can honestly say that while I suspected who our stalker was at around the 70% mark, I wasn't entirely sure until it was revealed at the conclusion. That's always a win for me.
My only complaint, and it's a minute one...parts of this story do require suspension of belief, as I couldn't understand why Audrey wouldn't call the police when her apartment was ransacked. Hence, 4.5 stars instead of 5.
I highly recommend this crazy ride.
