I owned this book (and the rest of the series) years ago, but sadly they were destroyed in our older barn due to a post-hurricane flood event. I recently replaced it with the Kindle version. While I confess to missing the tactile enjoyment of reading an actual paper book, I love the convenience of having hundreds of books available electronically.
This book continues the story of an isolated colony on a planet far from Earth, led by Captain James T. Kirk. In this installment, the colonists of Belle Terre have survived a lot of hardships and problems, but now face an enemy bent on their destruction in order to claim this world as their own.
If you are a Star Trek fan (The original series, or TOS), this series is a nice inclusion in the genre. I recommend it for ST fans. If you aren't already a fan, you should try one out if you are inclined towards Sci-Fi.

I enjoyed this book.It was an easy read .I think the character of Dr.Mcoy was especially well done .Captain Kirk was well done also although Spock felt a little off to me.This book is not my favorite but a nice way to spend a winter weekend.I would like to read the rest of the series just to find out what happens to the colonists .
