- Keep meals in the freezer
- Eat directly in the container
- Wash in dishwasher
Reasons why I prefer these containers:
- Slim size allows stacking more inside a fridge
- Tight seal prevents messes when dropping them (I dropped so many)
- They stack very well, no slipping
Today after working out I wanted to get something on my stomach so I pulled out my lime cilantro chicken with broccoli and sweet potatoes (Google, er Search (Sorry Amazon, LOL!): How to Meal Prep - Chicken (7 Meals/Under $5) | How To Meal Prep | A Sweet Pea Chef) from my refrigerator. As I was removing the lid to put it in the microwave, there was a loud pop and then a tink. It was an edge of the container flying to the floor. This was a new container, first meal and never been in the microwave yet. The good news, there was an extra container enclosed in my order so I still have the amount of containers that I initially expected. Now these things will meet their intended purpose with the caveat, they will probably not stand up to long term use.
While I was waiting for these to be delivered, I may have actually found an alternative. Rubbermaid meal trays with lids, a pack of three with lids for 2 USD from the store that has survived all others, and it rhymes with Ball Cart. These come in the single space 4 cup and the 3.7 cup two space container and for 5 packs of three, or 15, it'd only be 10 USD. The biggest difference is the edges, they are rounded and the lids match so they are not snap tight but more press fit.
Finally, my wife used both yesterday and if either, the Fitpacker or the Rubbermaid, would have given her ANY problems, I would have no doubt heard about it. Was my occurrence a fluke? Time will tell. I will use both Fitpacker and Rubbermaid to see which will stand up.
Good luck to all of you trying to get your diet and lives straight with prepackaged portioned meals. Stay strong, you can do it!
Buy this product and recommend it.
i cut out 2 hrs on sunday to meal prep. I make enough food for 3 work days and save me a bundle.
breakfast $10 bucks mid day snack $10 bucks / lunch $ 10 buck. Plus factor in drive time to get your unhealthier grub/ waiting in line. And most of the time the order is wrong :).
all i do is pop my food in microwave and bam. I know its cooked right and will taste good enough :).
when i get home just throw it in the dishwasher and done.
I have instant lunch and dinner ready without trying to think about what to make tonight. I just grab, warm, and eat. This saves me a ton of time and cuts way down on the frustration of a nightly chore or the mistake of fast food. There are plenty of recipes on Youtube making this change a no brainer. It really does make life much easier and cuts the stress down. I cook when I have free time and I make it fun time instead of a rushed moment.
As for the product itself: They are not real tough but certainly tough enough to last for the year;with intelligent care. The major complaints I have seen have been that they are hard to open. My wife has some trouble but I have not had one time yet that there was any trouble. Just hold your left foot up and gently slide your fingers under the edge of 2 corners at the same time and you're on your way, With the cost at around $20 you cannot go wrong. Get a set and get on Youtube and find out how easy this is and just how FREAKING much time it saves.
I bought these in the Summer of 2017, and it is now almost November 2018. I still love these containers! I will echo what some other reviews have said about some of them breaking around the rim, although I still find that they have held up better than other plastic containers I've owned/tried. I don't do as much freezer prep these days, but I do portion and use them for my hubby's meals every week. One thing I love about these is the tight lid - no issues around things leaking out, unlike even with glass containers that are supposed to have great seals on them.
As these wear out/break (or get destroyed by my dog, he's gotten a hold of a couple), I'm sure I'll be back to buy more =)
Would definitely buy from this seller again just for the sheer fact of their integrity and concern for their buyers... refreshing to see a company care so much about the consumer AND their amazing product! Well done Fitpacker Containers.
Edited: I increased the number of stars for a couple reasons. 1. The Fitpacker folks contacted me and replaced the containers that had broken and 2. The replacement containers seem to be holding up much better, so perhaps the quality has improved since my initial purchase.
