I am so impressed with this prequel novella! I only downloaded it because Second Verse was also available for purchase so I figured if I like this then I'll buy that too. Glad I did because I liked it a lot! Emily Snow is a new author for me, but it's clear she knows how to write angst. Kinsey stole my heart from the very first page. I felt her uncertainty, pain, and worry about her current situation. I felt so bad she was being judged by others for her circumstances however I really liked her spirit and her response to the haters. She was honorable and determined to do the right thing. I loved the chemistry Emmett and Kinsey had. It felt effortless and electric. I was on the edge of my seat for most of this book, and not just because I was waiting for the other shoe to drop, but because of how hot they were together. I got so caught up in what was happening between them I completely forgot a separation was coming. That's a testament to the writing and story. This novella had so much packed into it, I felt like I was reading a full length novella. I may have yelled, "No!" at the end of this book and tried to click to the next page when there wasn't one. All I can say is, I am starting Second Verse NOW!
I too would be annoyed if I had to wait for the next book. However I remember reading this before, maybe an anthology? This is the history that leads into second verse & is part one if you purchase that book. I read just to make sure I wanted to pursue it.
I wasn't disappointed other than I wished there was more content rather than a novella. Of course things conspire to make Kinseys life hard. So there's a bit of a cliffie & I would've hated the wait.
