Product Description

Nine years ago Anna Washington became world famous when she slapped Chris Jefferson across the face in the middle of her father’s inaugural address. He had it coming. After all, he’d been putting the moves on the vice-president’s daughter in full view of millions of viewers, and, more importantly, in front of Anna, whose kiss and innocence he’d stolen underneath the Resolute Desk four years before, when his father was inaugurated.

A lot has happened since then. Jack Washington became the first American president to be impeached, after giving the executive order to take out a terrorist cell, which turned out to be a hog farm. Wrecked by guilt, he bought what was left of the farm and became a pig farmer. Anna went from First Daughter to pig farmer’s daughter, a setback she blames entirely on Chris Jefferson, since it was his dad who had her dad impeached.

Nine years later, she’s working as a waitress in a coffee shop in Manhattan, dreaming of becoming a famous singer. So when she runs into Chris, she’s not exactly thrilled. The former First Son, now a bestselling writer of conspiracy thrillers, claims their dads have been kidnapped by some maniac. Soon her life is turned upside down once again, as their search for the two ex-presidents leads the unlikely duo of former First Kids on a cross-country rescue mission, hot on the trail of the man who took their fathers, a man whose evil plan just might bring the United States and its ex-presidents to their knees.

Will the former First Daughter and First Son find their fathers? Will Anna Washington be able to resist Chris Jefferson’s relentless charm? Find out in First Shot, the first book in the new humorous mystery series Washington & Jefferson.

What a fun "alternative history" to consider-and from the viewpoint of the children of the presidents. One hears a great deal about the "Nuclear Football" in movie references especially, but this was an interesting slant on the whole situation.

While the ex-presidents don't come off sounding or looking like they are very bright, (you think your whole secret security detail has gone off for coffee and left you in the middle of the lake fishing unprotected?) it made for a good story. The hard working ex-first daughter and the playboy ex-first son come off a little better, but not as great as I had hoped.

It was a little unrealistic that Chris Jefferson would have all the modes of transportation (plane, helicopter, multiple expensive sports cars) available at the drop of a hat. It was unrealistic that they could get everywhere so quickly. It was unrealistic that he could drive 12 hours straight from Florida to Washington, D.C. without getting a ticket or at least stopped for excessive speed. Heck, it was unrealistic when everywhere they went he pulls into a parking place basically in front of the place they are going!

Now the ex-daughter, ex-hog farmer's daughter who wants to be a singer is another story-she seems a little more normal She provides the heimlich for a customer who is choking and ends up getting fired and yelled at for trying to murder the man. But then she goes and spoils the realism by taking on a secret service person and winning the fight.

Nevertheless, it was an entertaining book to read, and an enjoyable start to a new series. I plan to read the next story in the series when it is out, and can recommend this one for a quick and likeable read right now!

I have new go to authors for those times when life gets a little too serious. This is the second book I 've read by these two authors and have thoroughly enjoyed both. In this book Chris and Anna have the adventure of a lifetime. Thankfully we get to go along! If you like a book that leaves you smiling, this is for you. Cleverly written.

A compelling story of espionage related to nuclear weapons with a tongue-in-cheek attitude. Lots of humor and light hearted romance. Fun to read.
