I bought this by accident but thought, ok, I'll give it a go.
Well, I finished the book, was even moderately entertained by the main character's sharp wit, but in the end I started wondering about the whole reaper thing. Not that I have a problem with reapers, it's just that this character, who we're told is a reaper, does very little reaping. I know the author has quite a following and I can see why, but I'm not among them.
From initially deciding to give it a go, I've now decided this author's books are simply not for me. Kind of like: I came, I saw, I don't have to do it again.

It is a bit intimidating to see there are 13 of this series already released. Still, I will continue to buy these books whilst they continue to make a smile.
They are fast paced, funny and a little different to the normal paranormal. Bearing in mind there are quite a few books, don’t expect the plot or characters to be fully developed in the first instalment. Where’s the fun in that?

I loved it! This book is different to a lot of other paranormal / fantasy books, and the characters are superbly written. Charley is sassy and witty but not over the top with too many one liners like some characters can be when the author tries their hand at sarcasm. There was just enough mystery and unfinished business to make me desperate to buy the next book. I'm so glad there are a lot of books in this series as this is one series I'm definitely going to finish!

I've been reading about the Cat and Bones series on many forums but only recently took the plunge into Darynda's world of vampires.

Why oh why did it take me this long? Don't make the same mistake if you're a paranormal romance fan. It may be intricately planned like J. R. Ward's BDB, but it's got a hell of a punch with a shed loads of laughs.

Charlie Davidson is a larger than life character with concentration issues. She tells her own story, so if you have concentration issues or if you're reading mojo has left you, then this is the book for you. She doesn't let your mind wonder outside of the story, but she makes your mind wonder a hella lot through Charlie's ADD. Pure entertainment in every page and a laugh a minute.

Well I downloaded this one month ago and it was so good I read all 12 books to date in one month. They were epic! without giving any spoilers away, let me just say, this series was refreshingly different. A grim reaper who is funny, empathetic and has a gorgeous sexy counterpart. Both main characters and main sub characters progress throughout the series to the point that I felt I knew these people. I miss them - waiting on the final book to be released in a couple of weeks - and then I'll be despondent without them. Each book progressed not only the characters but the story without too much repetition - just the right amount that it kept new readers in the loop and didn't bore the pants of serial readers. It was laugh out loud funny in places -you don't get much of that in books - and I really empathised and felt in tune with Charley. It had it all - romance, naughty bits (just the right amount), suspense, complex storyline, and storyline progression throughout the series. These books would make an excellent transition to TV or film. A good director and producer could make these great on this medium. They are also well written. Written from Charley's POV, you get the inside view of what it's like to be Charley and you get her reactions to her circumstances, relationships both normal and paranormal and how she feels about what she does. You love Reyes as much as she does, what's not to love? And the suspense is a page turner. A series not to be missed and one to ensure you put aside time to enjoy.

This is not a genre I would usually read but on the recommendation of a book group I’m with I decided to give it a try. I was quite impressed with the idea. Charley Davidson is the Grim Reaper. People who have died & have trouble passing over come to her & pass through her. As most of these are people who have died violently she gets to learn the circumstances of their deaths & can help the police follow through. Once the case is solved the person can pass over knowing that they are at peace. It took a bit of gettin* used to for the first few chapters. There is the unbelieving policeman, the uncle cop who uses her to solve his cases, the secretary who is just getting used to Charley talking to empty space & THEN there is .....the Son of Lucifer. A man that Charley met years ago who she remembers in dreams turns out to be the SoL.
I’ve only given this one 4 stars. Hopefully once I’ve read number 2 I can give it 5. The humour is definitely me. Reminds me very much of Janet Evanovitch & Stephanie Plum if you’ve read those books. I will download the second book as soon as my tbr pile gets a bit lower.

I've just finished the Charley Davidson series.
Each book was an emotional journey on a roller-coaster that you thought would be just a couple of loops. Then you start realising as you make you way through the books that maybe you have taken a roller-coaster with more loops than expected but that's alright because its a fun and exhilarating ride.
But buy book thirteen you suddenly realise your on the highest and fastest emotional roller-coaster with so many loops you have lost grip of what is up and what is down. With so many twists and turns your heart feels like it's permantly lodged in your throat and you can't see for all the water drowning your eyeballs.
But went it comes to a stop that no longer matters because you just want to stay on and go through it all again.

I was wary how the plot line developed in the beginning but I fell in love with characters and their journey.
That is when realised it was that journey I loved and the plot line was just a fun side note for me.

But Charlie could never completely forget him, there's something magnetic about Reues ,he's so.handsome the Angels weep, his body is to die for, he moved like a jungle car all boneless and sinuous a woman's mind cannot help but get sidetracked when faced with his magnetisim. Unfortunately Charle finds Reyes in hospital hooked up to life support being kept alive by machines, she has three days to.come up with a miracle before the machines will be turned off and Reyes dies. Then there's the three dead lawyers, the child kidnapping ring and the battered wife she's helping all of which need work. It's a good job she has her Secretary and best friend Cookie to help and let's not forget the Uncle Bob who just so happens to be a homicide detective, but most importantly she has the dead on her side, they are always willing to help ,well most of them. This the first in the series is an amazing read it's so hard to put down you keep promising yourself just one more chapter.
