Anna Lowe has done it again. I think that I may have said that in other reviews but the truth is that she manages to pull off the impossible every time she starts a new series! This series features young women who have inherited the genes of Liviana the original Fire Maiden.
Natalie has always wanted to visit Paris. If she thinks about it her live of France started when she was still in Primary School. After a bad experience with a male colleague she gave up her job and moved to Paris. After all, what was she waiting for? Once there she got a job and started to help out in a food kitchen for the homeless, Solidarite du Coeur. This particular evening she becomes aware of a man who is sitting out of the way but not eating. He creeps her out because he follows her with his eyes as she serves her genuine customers. Part of the problem is that she has been having strange dreams since she arrived in Paris. In those dreams this man is a vampire! She keeps telling herself that there are no such things as vampires but.... Then another man enters but this one is greeted happily by the other workers. Tristan often comes to check that all is well and he has also featured in Natalie’s dreams, but in a totally different way! It makes her blush to think of them! But this evening Tristan looks around and spots the man by the window and immediately comes to her and tells her to leave immediately as she is in danger. They leave together through the kitchen but see that there are two men waiting at the end of the alley. As they turn the other way another man steps out closing them in! This is the start of Natalie’s journey to realising her potential as a Fire Maiden! She has the first learn that there are other beings on this earth than humans. And, guess what, she’s one of them. Natalie and Tristan have a difficult road ahead of them and it’s made more difficult when their friends are not always what they seem to be.
A very easy read and beautifully written!
