5.0 out of 5 stars Sexy, Raw, Honest, and Very Entertaining ... 24 December 2013

I too could not put this book down. I picked it up at 7 PM last night and finished around 1:30 AM. I felt like I was right there in the story line, rooting on Monica to overcome her hangs ups about relationships and her willingness to take a chance even when being warned off. I was extremely pissed at Victor for his unrealistic and selfish expectations. I wanted to throttle both the characters; Monica for being too understanding, too naive at times, and not questioning more of her lover, and Victor for being such a idiot about something solid, something pure and special right in front of him. Monica had surrendered to Victor's desires ... what more can a guy ask for? And even through my frustrations with both characters, I fell in love with both of them and wanted to see the 'Fairy Tale Happy Ending", and that's saying a lot from a no frills, non-romance kind of girl myself; but I wanted it for Monica and even for Victor. I felt the characters' anxiety, their emotion, their battle between the head and the heart! MJ Nightingale does a good job pulling the reader in to the story line. The sex scenes were 'hot, hot, hot' and even comical at times looking through the eyes of Monica. It was funny to see her in situations that were a little 'over-her-head' but she was still willing to take the chance and try new things to keep Victor in her life! I am partial to the character Ana ... the big sister, maybe because I see a little of me in her ;) ! Overall, the book was a fun read and I would recommend this to anyone who wants a little escape from reality and a little tantalizing interlude on the wild side of love where Fire and Ice collide!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars fiery w/ a lil bit o' kink 14 September 2014

I can't say much about this book w/o spoiling it, but will say that I enjoyed a lot of it. There were some things that annoyed me (the main "issue" our hero has made me really, really not like him very much, and I'm not sure even his speech at the end redeemed him for me). Up until we discover what his issue is, I was fully on board. It's a very well written story & Monica is the perfect partner for Victor in her willingness to try new things and both their discoveries that she LIKES those new things. I think when ppl have fetishes or particular desires, it's 100% important for their partners to be compatible in that way - not just accepting of things, but truly engaged in those things. So, that part of the story was very well done.

Anyway, yes, give this book a read, and yes, I do have and will read the other stories in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW - what a read!! 22 December 2013

What a ride from the author! I never knew where this story was going to take me. I even thought at one place that I didn’t like the hero (seemed like a jerk) or the heroine (seemed weak) and I wanted to toss my kindle. But I couldn’t put it down! That’s when I realized what a great job the author was doing- It was not a simple, fluffy love story, filled with vanilla sex and the typical romance. Both Victor and Monica have deep seeded issues of trust, hurt, and fears. As a single, 30 year old, she should have had her eyes open more to what possible reasons Victor may have had when keeping her separated from his life. Victor should have realized that what he wanted was never going to work. Their relationship was complicated and the story takes the reader through Monica’s mind as she is maneuvering her way through the very murky waters! Part of me wanted their story to be fluff because there was a lot of emotion in this book. Both made mistakes. Both made assumptions. Both made poor choices. But ultimately, they did get their HEA. MJ wrote a story that definitely pulls you along because you keep reading to the very end wanting to find out what happens. So while the story made me crazy as I was reading it – I did not want to put it down!

4.0 out of 5 stars and falling in love along the way 10 November 2014

A book about two people facing down their demons, and falling in love along the way. Monica has just recently dealt with her demons and is starting to live her life. Out with her sister, she meets Victor, a gorgeously handsome Alpha male who rocks her socks. And she rocks his, too. However, Victor is still dealing with his demons. He's upfront and tells her there are no promises but that doesn't stop their desire for one another. As their relationship grows and he lets her inside, we see some of his demons and how a previous love has damaged him. Can he move on and choose her over his demons or will he choose to continue to torture himself. Can she be strong enough for both of them?

I liked that Monica was already healed at the beginning of the book. She had a life of her own outside their relationship that gave her strength and purpose beyond their love. That allowed her to be strong when she needed to be and supportive when he needed it. It allowed a her feelings to ring true. She didn't need him in her life--she wanted him, which is very different. Victor's character can be polarizing. The author's ability to make us love his tortured soul first allows you the time to listen to his backstory. His determination to do the right thing and to be a good man have you rooting for his happiness.

As her debut novel, there were a few editing errors I would have liked to see cleaned up, but the story line had a good flow that showed both characters' internal conflict and passion. The decision to pace this out over several months did the story justice as it felt more natural. Even if they did fall in bed with lust at first sight. Lots of hot steamy sex scenes, including a wild out of town weekend. The novel ends on a HEA and did have me crying at parts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fire In His Eyes 2 January 2014

Thank you for a wonderful story of two people with problems in their past preventing them from true happiness in the future. Until they meet each other. Monica and Victor are emotionally messes. The spark is instant for both undeniably hot. Victor teaches Monica about sex and trying not to lose your heart. She will drive you crazy with her trust of this man. She fails terribly at one. Monica teaches Victor about different loves, acceptances, understanding and your true love. Victor will make you think about what you would do for family! They both learn to trust their feelings and find true love. I choose this book to read again and again! You need to go get this book and enjoy it like I have. Read this book and you will understand the last statement.
