Thanks Bonnie! Nikkie xoxo
I enjoyed the author's dark approach to the adult mystery genre. It adds an element that other adult mystery writers do not have. I am definitely planning to read the other books in this series! If they are like this book, this will officially be one my favorite series of all time!
I love how the story is told through the viewpoint of the protagonist yet still manages to unselfishly reveal individual personalities of the remaining cast of characters. She doesn't just imitate the voice of this teenaged perspective, she owns it. The rich strong characters come alive once again just as they did in the first book in this series, Murder at the Foster Manor. This book picks up and takes offs with an even deeper level of mystery and mayhem.
The diverse dynamics occurring throughout the story enriches it. Teenaged alliances fall apart and/or mend in unexpected ways. Crushes balance on the verge of going to the next level while keep you guessing, wondering, and yes even hoping throughout the book.
All the theses elements occur in a parallel alignment with an imaginative mystery that had me pointing fingers at just about every character in the story. It ends with the surprise angle that - just as in her last novel - I did not see coming. I read it then immediately read it again trying to pick up on the clues that I overlooked due to her ingenious way of inserting them with literary sleight of hand excellence. This is the kind of flawless entertainment that will remain like the most memorable characters that you will ever read about, timeless.
