When I was first introduced to the genius that is Annalisa Nicole it was after reading the first in her "Running into Love" series. I still remember my emotional response to that book because I had lived in that nightmare world for over 6 years and my end did not have the same outcome. What I learned from that book was that life could go on. What I didn't know at the time was that magic was about to happen. I posted a review and Ms. Nicole responded with such kindness to me. What was magical, and frankly still just seems nutty and impossible to me, was that my nightmare happened less than five miles from where Annalisa actually lives. In this giant world what kind of crazy-ass world had I just entered. I read and enjoyed #2 and #3. This morning I finished #4 and I have been crying all afternoon. More magic folks because what Annalisa couldn't know is I am Chloe. I don't know this writing magic but something has worked for me to be introduced to a stranger who knows "me". I was literally stunned. The circumstances that led to Chloe's brokenness and mine are very different but the simple fact is that I was reading about me now. Annalisa had masterfully created this lovely character who ultimately felt she no longer served any purpose to anyone and was utterly emotionally dead. She was completely broken and well beyond repair. The emotion Annalisa brought to this character was fully realized and completely believable. With Max I saw all of my remaining family members. What an equally beautifully written character. At points during this book I didn't know if I would be able to continue reading. It hurt and had become gut-wrenching for me. I keep thinking that I trusted Annalisa enough now to feel that if I could continue reading I would discover something to cling to. I did. I discovered that books can heal if they are written by an individual with extraordinary insight into the human condition. Annalisa possesses skills even she might not be aware she has. She creates wonderful stories, completely realized characters, and a message of hope. I can't say that this book has cured me of all of my personal demons but yet again I feel a sense of hope and lightness by virtue of having read this book and to this amazing young woman. I hope that all who are lucky enough to find this young indie writer and take a chance are going to be better for having done so. My words feel inadequate and I know that my review does not even begin to do justice to this poetic ballet of words that is Annalisa Nicole. Amazing Job!

A Fighting Chance is my favorite of the entire series so far! I knew there was something about Max "Slick" in the other books but I absolutely fell in love with him! The way he and Chloe were together was absolutely amazing! A sexy bad boy on a motorcycle, what's more to want?!?

While the writing style was a tad different than what I’m used to, basically the dual POVs overlapped a bit along with some wording, but by the time I was half way through chapter one…I just didn’t care and I ADORED it! The story line captured me so fully and completely that nothing else mattered! Including the fact that my time to sleep was quickly disappearing without my noticing!

Guys…seriously…this book…just WOW!

Before I was part of the way through chapter one, which is just there to sort of catch you up on what has happened in the previous book with the main characters (I totally appreciated this seeing as I have yet to read the other books in the series), I had developed such an attachment to both Chloe and Max that I simply had to know what happened. There was no ‘Well here is a good stopping point, I think I’ll sleep now so I’m not a zombie tomorrow’. Oh no! This book was action packed, filled with love, tears, A SHIT TON OF SNOT and romance that left me absolutely breathless and begging for more!

It was intense.

It was heart wrenching.

It was emotional.

It was crazy and perfect and epic and flawless and …. well you get the point!

Max had his ‘stupid man’ moments…but the book wouldn’t be worth reading if everything was all ‘sunshine and floaty hearts’. Every book needs it’s drama. It’s tension. Trust me, Annalisa Nicole has tension down to a science…an art form! It’s just amazing how perfectly she manages to make me both adore and loath Max during parts of this book. I get why he did what he did…and yet I still got pissed off at him as I read in Chloe’s POV.

I am still amazed and perplexed by the fact that I connected with both characters to such a point that as the POV switched…my outlook and thoughts and feelings towards the situation switched along with it! I can honestly say that this is a first for me!

The romance flowed naturally. I love it when a book makes the characters take their time, not rush into the physical relationship, especially with extenuating circumstances such as these.

The characters are well developed. Deep. Real. Raw. Emotional. Addictive. And so well written that I couldn’t help but feel as if I was one of the other characters along for the ride! I love that we get a glance at the characters from the past book (which I am totally dying to read now) while still focusing on the main characters in this book. This family was so close and so loving and accepting. I couldn’t help but fall a little bit in love with every last one of them!

Overall, this author and this book are amazing! The story is impeccable, the characters are extremely well developed and lovable and the romance is one that will leave you wanting more and yet knowing that they totally got the HEA that they deserved!

Chloe & Max are introduced in I'll Take A Chance, book 2 in the series. They get together pretty quickly after meeting, following the instant-connection pattern, and they're dating throughout the rest of books 2 & 3. I knew book 4 was about them, and so as I read the other stories, I wasn't quite sure where the author was going to take them in their own book. And the first part of the book had me a little worried, I'll admit. It's basically pulling together scenes from the earlier books, to give the picture of their relationship - this is great if you're just coming into the story & picked it up as a standalone, but since I was reading these all together, I admit to skimming.

However, once we open up to "new to me material"... I have to say I'm amazed and happy with how the author went about everything! Each couple in this series has their struggles, both individually & as a couple. And each story seems to get more & more emotionally intense - this was no exception to that pattern, either. Max unintentionally contributes to completely crushing Chloe's heart, and his road back to her is nothing short of beautiful!

There is a LOT going on in this story, and I have been sitting here trying to put together the important pieces to share, but I don't want to spoil any part of the story. Part of the beauty is in discovering for yourself everything not only Chloe & Max go through, but the Wellington clan as well. I cannot recommend this series high enough, and I'm VERY MUCH looking forward to Ava & Jax's story & hopefully even more from this family. : )
