Fight for Her
By Vanessa Vale
Review by Candace Fox
Where to start.
First, I want to thank the author. This is the first book that I personally related to in almost every subject, drama, emotion, struggle involved with these two characters. I wonder if the author was a divorced single Mom in her early thirties, because she sure wrote the experience extremely well.
The Heroine, much like myself and a lot of others, experience life for the first time when we divorce. So often (in my generation and I think this characters too, because it was like reading a very good story of my life), we are lost. Never having lived alone before marriage, having to move back home with your parents because you were so totally blindsided and have no clue what to do. You must navigate the world alone for the first time in your life and it’s scary.
The Heroine, much like myself again, forged thru and builds a life that she and her child can be proud of. She raises an amazing child and now has time for herself. But she has no clue what to do with herself. The first weekends the kids “went to Daddys” I cried like a baby, have no clue why, but I did. I could see this happening to Emory.
The Hero, reminds me of my Mr. Fox. Not looking for anything permanent because of the need to protect himself from past and not have it repeated. He has had a rough time of it and he just want the peace and quiet, no more drama.
Gray and Emory are older, wiser, cooler under pressure, and adults. This is a great appeal to those of us over 40. The Author writes with grace and a knowing of those who have lived this life of love and divorced and starting over and finding true, selfless, happy, joyous love. It is a true story for many of us and it is beautifully told and very real. Thank you.
