If anyone at all wants to spend some great quality time with an old past time as readingReviewed in the United States on 20 November 2016
If anyone at all wants to spend some great quality time with an old past time as reading, the just get this book and immerse yourself in one of the best written, storytelling work of all time! If you're a thinking person, and enjoy something fictional yet close to everyday realities, then this is what will satisfy you from beginning to end. I actually saw myself as possibly being one of the characters. To say that it's a self absorbing, adventurous, and at times humorous piece of fine literature, is putting it mildly. Just get it.

Not goodReviewed in the United States on 6 May 2017
I bought this as The Black Cloud was one of the best science fiction books I ever read. Very dissapointing.

Great astronomer, pretty good SF writer.Reviewed in the United States on 19 January 2016
If like me you have enjoyed other Hoyle books, you'll like this one even though it is nowhere near the same league as The Black Cloud. Lots of good ideas but less narrative cohesion. Or it could be that I read the last books 40 years ago.
