It was an ok start to a new series but there was a lot of things going on. Not always a bad thing but if not pulled off well then it lets the book down, it just seemed a bit short and rushed at times. It chopped and changed a fair amount so that you almost forgot who the romance was about!! The main characters seemed to get a little lost or forgotten.
Jace was an ok H and Cassie at times was a tad annoying, her BFF Kaitlyn was not a nice person but her behaviour was explained away by the whole shifter thing, meh!
Lots of other characters who you would assume will eventually get their own books as the series pregresses.
A few minor editing issues but overall an ok read, not in any hurry to continue with the series.
Characters are solid & have depth. Worth going on to see if the next one is worth an hour to read.
Jace is so hot, he leaves you a hot mess!
The ending seemed somewhat rushed, but otherwise a great read.

The main issue I had with it is that there was so much going on and some many other characters and their lives which were not relevant at that point in the story. You can introduce characters for future books and make readers intrigued with less.
The main couple had potential. The heroine and hero were both very likeable and had chemistry but they didn't get much attention.
I'm not going to continue with this series.

This started well and I was set up for a 'normal everyday' shifter romance but it became more, a lot more maybe too much really but then I'm not sure how long this this series will be but there's a lot of characters and information here to the extent where I felt it lost the romance.
There's some interesting characters and if the series was on kindle unlimited I might consider continuing on but I didn't like it enough to buy the individual books especially when it could be a long run and while this keeps up a quick almost frantic pace at times I'm always wary and have been caught out in the past where after a couple of books they tend to get repetitive and then I regret starting, obviously I don't know this is heading that way but there's a strong chance.
To summarise:
This is more than just a shifter romance but having said that it's a story we've read before which follows the usual lines and so in cases like this it's the characters which keep us reading and this has some interesting ones, this ends well and everything's set up ready for the next book 'Primal Claim' which features Mercury.
For me there was too much crammed into too little, the book needed to be longer really for it to fully work for me but it didn't grab me enough to make me want to continue.

As for the writing itself, there are a few small typos, grammatical issues, with words out of order in some sentences, making reading them a bit off. But these are not really that noticeable. So technically the writing is fine but the style of writing was fairly typical, nothing special. 3 stars maximum.

This was a very pleasant surprise. I enjoyed the style of writing, there was an actual plot and the sex scenes were not cringe worthy. Also, the way it is written allows you to understand enough to make sense of this particular story. And it is a complete story all by itself - not one of those deeply annoying things that should be called chapter 1 and not book 1 in a series. But you can see that it is also laying down the groundwork for a whole lot more to come. Reading the trailer for the next book - yes the same characters will be included to give continuity which I always prefer.
Yes I can see myself reading more of these even though they are not free.

Having said that, enjoyed the characters which were described in sufficient detail to form a mental picture. Not sure if I'll read the remaining in the series?
