Product Description

Murder doesn’t take a holiday!

After ten years in jail, Julia Taylor is about to experience her first Christmas on the outside. Life is good. Her interior design business is growing and she’s happily in love with Dylan, the cop who helped clear her name. When she snags a major commission to redesign a historic house, she’s over the moon, but quickly slams back to earth when she discovers her new client, dead.

With Dylan investigating and a cast of odd suspects including an ex-spy in her seventies, Julia is reluctantly (well, that’s what she tells herself) drawn into finding out who wanted Vincent Perrin dead. What is about the house that inspires such greed?

Julia Taylor had only been out of prison for six months after spending ten years inside for a crime she didn’t commit. But life was settling down nicely for her – Dylan, the policeman who helped to clear her name was now the love of her life, and although Julia sometimes felt insecure, Dylan reassured her as much as he could. She also enjoyed her job as an interior designer, and the support from her mother Eleanor as well as Dee.

Leura in the Blue Mountains was a picturesque and delightful area – the old historic house in nearby Katoomba with the magnificent views had recently been purchased and Julia was set to redesign the home; a commission she was thrilled about. But her initial visit to the house to meet with the owner, Vincent Perrin, was a terrible shock when she discovered his dead body…

Dylan was in charge of the investigation; but what would he find? And was Julia under suspicion? What would this mean in terms of Julia’s first Christmas on the outside for a long time?

Festive Deception by Aussie author D.B. Tait is another excellent story in the Dark Mountain series. A novella (#2.5), it follows on neatly from the previous title, Desperate Deception. Filled with great characters, beautiful, rugged scenery (the Blue Mountains is a wonderful area to visit) as well as mystery and intrigue, it’s one I have no hesitation in recommending highly.

I am loving this series it is so well written and just pulls you in Julia has been through so much and this will be her first Christmas since getting out of jail (for something she didn't do) and she his very happy with her relationship with the local cop Dylan, they are now living together and Julia is doing well with her emotions and their lives are pretty much all smiles.

Julia is now doing a fair bit of interior design work and when she is commissioned to help with a beautiful house at Leura she is over the moon and Dylan is so happy for her but when she arrives and finds the owner dead another death well is she really the angel of death. Julia cannot help trying to find out what happened and makes friends with the elderly neighbours and discovers a lot of goings on which of course helps Dylan.

This is a quick fast paced read that had me engrossed from the start MS Tait has characters that just come to life on the pages and they are so easy to be friends with, you will be cheering them on and thinking all the time as to who the killer is it could be so many. I do highly recommend this story and this series and I am looking forward to a lot more to come. Julia and Dylan are fast becoming my favourite couple and of course the setting is beautiful. Thank you MS Tait for another fab story

Julia and Dylan don't need mistletoe for them to get all hot and steamy this Christmas, her first back home in many years. But their deepening relationship is interrupted when Julia's prospective client turns up dead. A shifting pattern of suspicion alights on one colourful Blue Mountains character after another, until all is resolved by Boxing Day. An engaging holiday read.

Another great read in the Dark Mountain series. I love reading the relationshop between Dylan and Julia and how she is getting her life together after 10 years in jail for a crime she didn't do. It's well written, well paced and a very enjoyable read.
