Feral is the first book in the (Once Bitten Twice Shy Series) by Anne Berkeley ,and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this great story .Anne Berkeley has given us a story that will draw you right in from the first few chapters, ,and it has some serious angst that will make you love it even more. If you love wolves, steamy kissing and more you need to pick this one up. Thaleia Llorente isn't having a good night or even week , but when her best friend Peyton, and her boyfriend Marcus Pera goes to a Halloween party at Jacks place goes bad when Thaleia catches her best friend and boyfriend in bed together. So she leaves the party in a hurry and is followed by someone who turns into a wolf and bite her . But is soon found by a pack that wants to keep her, but the alpha male has loved her very since he set eyes on her. But Thaleia struggles with all the changes that she's going through in her life, but soon tragedy brings back people in her life that as hurt her. Icarus is her protector and will keep her safe from her enemies ,when it becomes clear that they won't stop at nothing to get her . So she must decide if she can trust Icarus or if she should do everything herself. Icarus is incredibly attractive, but he's also incredibly infuriating also, it's funny how she liked him and despises him all at the same time. But she seems to be unable to figure out her feels for him neither .All the other wolves in the pack lusted after her as well, but the females in the pack had major issues of their own with her ,so this meant that Thaleia had no way to bond with them. Will Thaleia be able to fine happiness in her new life? And will she be able to adjust? And can she learn to trust the one person she has no trust for? I could tell you more about this touching story, but that would spoil it for you. I highly recommend that you read this touching story ,you won't be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great start to the series 2 April 2015

I read this book in one setting. Couldn't out it down! Between wanting to know more and laughing uncontrollably, I was hooked. It did get a bit confusing for me at times. Lots to take in, lots being brought up and mixed in. I think most of that was setting us up for more books to come so it wasn't so bad. Loved the boys...ALL of them. Some of the things out of their mouths were priceless! There were times in that I had to stop reading to catch my breath, from laughing so hard. For me it was a great storyline, FANTASTIC characters, and really good writing by Anne. I can't wait to read the next book.

This was the first book I picked up by this author--and I Highly enjoyed it! (I'd actually give it a 4.5 it if would let me!)

Thale is a senior in high school, at six-foot two she is a blonde haired beautiful girl who carries a lot of cynicism. She's dating Marcus, whom she likes, but doesn't love. Her best friend Peyton is a pixie of a girl who proves to be less than loyal.

Things change when they all end up at a Halloween party; she discovers her best friend getting it on with her boyfriend. Furious she leaves, intending to walk home. Marcus follows her. It's suburbia---what could happen? A wolf stalks and bites her--and what turned out into a really screwed up night; became one of epic horror.

Thale wakes up-- and meets meets Icarus; the Alpha of a young pack in whose territory she was bit. She finds out her life has changed; and she resents it.

She has to leave her family behind--and learn to live under different rules. But she's still not safe--because she will always be hunted.

I could go on--but I fear giving away spoilers. :)

What I liked: LOVED the characters and tension. The story was a bit slow initially but once it hit the party--then things took off at a high rate of speed.

Icarus--is strong and desperate to protect his pack; still reeling from an attack years ago. (I'm going to be cagey--because I want you to read it). He stands his ground and he means what he says--I adore this in a hero.

Thale was determined--I forgot that she was 18 and full of angst and her responses reflected this (which also frustrated this reader, BUT it was understandable).

What I didn't like--oh there were few glitches; grammar wise extra words ect. BUT what book doesn't have this?

I'd certainly read this author again and I highly recommend it.

The first thing about this book that drew me in was the cover! I hate to say, that sometimes, the cover of a book is my first judgement of what I will read and when I will read it. Then getting into the story was a kind of thrill. Once you get past the heroin's obvious beauty and popularity, there is an altogether different character here than you may see at first. I also LOVED her family dynamic, a hippy mother, straight forward dad and artsy younger brother who were all close knit. Then there is the Family of male wolves with one female in the little pack that take her in. I really think this invites the comedy for the story. Here we have a bunch of guys, basically no clue how to act around a once human teenage girl, and she's hot. Yes, there is a very blunt nature to some of the situations and language, but I like that in the sence there is this no holds relationship building here. You get what you get no questions asked. I would give more detail, like about her school life, her friends and boyfriend and how her situation changes after the attack, but that will just give you too much. READ THIS BOOK! Its really fresh and fun to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Paranormal Fan? Read This book! 27 February 2014

So okay, I recently beta read for the first time and this book made it a very pleasant experience. And by pleasant I mean, I absolutely loved and enjoyed reading this book! Werewolf fan? This book is a must read for you! It was a new spin for me in that genre and I literally couldn’t put it down.
It’s Halloween night, and Thaleia goes to a party with her boyfriend. While there, her not so perfect boyfriend causes her to run away from him-into the woods. Not such a good idea at night. She gets attacked by a werewolf and wakes up in a home-complete with several teenage, male werewolves and one very hot alpha, named Icarus. From the start she butts heads with Icarus and pretty early on it’s obvious that she is also an alpha. She has to come to terms with what she has become, the fact she can no longer go home, and the loss of life as she knows it. As she is smart, beautiful and female, she is being hunted-female werewolves are rare in this world the author has created, and there are men willing to pay a lot of money for them.
The book starts out with Thaleia in high school. But she is eighteen and her love interest is closer to thirty so this is definitely not a young adult read. There is lots of humor, mainly courtesy of the young werewolves-and Thaleia’s sarcasm, lots of bad alpha behavior on Icarus’s part, betrayals, action, a hot romance and even some tragedy. At times you want to slap Icarus upside his head and at other times you love him.
I haven’t read as many werewolf books as a lot of paranormal fans, but I honestly can say this is one of my favorites. And for the record, I do not know the author, although we are friends on GoodReads. I have also beta read two other books by this author recently, and I can tell you that she knows how to write a good story. I found that the writing flowed smoothly and the conversations felt real. Her characters were fully realized and because of this, you end up caring for most of them. There are a couple of pretty nasty villains and they were well written as well.
As a fan of indie paranormal books, I think some authors get overlooked for whatever reason-usually the fact that it’s hard to get your book read in the first place. I think this book deserves to be read and not be overlooked! Try it, I really don’t think you will be disappointed. (RabidReads,ca)
