Product Description

Lisa Ireland, a brilliant new voice in rural romance, invites you to Linden Gully and the wedding of the year…

When celebrity novelist Johanna Morgan surprises everyone by arriving back in Linden Gully three weeks early for her best friend’s wedding, she’s shocked to find her ex-boyfriend Ryan Galloway is back too and well-integrated in the community as the local vet.

Jo’s maid-of-honour duties are not the only thing that’s brought her home. The family homestead of Yarrapinga is now her responsibility, and Jo needs to decide whether to keep it – and replace old memories with new ones – or sell it and cut off all ties to her childhood and her home.

Ryan has brought his young daughter home to Linden Gully to provide stability after the death of her mother. The last thing he needs is Jo’s return, and all of the emotional turmoil that she brings with her.

Thrown together as attendants at their best friends’ wedding, Jo and Ryan have no choice but to grin and bear all the tension. But it’s not only resentment lingering between them. The attraction is still there, and the heat and the memories.

They say you can’t come home again, but maybe, for Jo and Ryan, home is not just a place, but a state of the heart.

As a young woman, Johanna Morgan wanted more out of life, so she left her Australian rural home town of Linden Gully. She also left behind her boyfriend, Ryan. Later, she became a successful novelist, situated in New York. Life was good, her career was booming and she was engaged to a famous actor. Returning to Linden Gully was only for the sake of being bridesmaid at her best friend Steph’s wedding. Combine a short holiday with her wedding duties - all good!

On her arrival, Johanna was shocked to see Ryan and immediately felt uncomfortable. She had no idea he had returned to Linden as the local vet. Worse, his property was next door to her family property. Even worse, he was to be bestman at the wedding.Their meeting was imminent. There was no getting out of it, so grin and bare it, right?

A lot of water had passed under the bridge and unresolved anger lingered between Ryan and Johanna. Ryan had obviously moved on, too as he was now a single parent of a daughter after the passing of his wife.To avoid confrontation, the only solution seemed to be, stay out of each other's way until the wedding, and then Johanna planned to head back to the good life in New York, ASAP. Well, that was the plan....

This Lisa Ireland book was a sweetly told narrative that I enjoyed. There was even some mystery woven through the plot. The characters were nicely developed and in particular, Ella, Ryan's daughter, was a delight. Overall, the book was a light, simple, straightforward romance that ticked the boxes for a good read. Yes, it was a little contrived and a tad predictable, but it's a romance-fiction, after all. Recommended.

I enjoyed this book. I felt that the characters were very true to the types of people you would find in the Australian bush. the dialogue was naturalistic and again, very true to how Australian country people speak. The plot was engaging and kept me entertained. The book was well-written and properly proof-read and I don't recall the use of the word literally much at all (always a bugbear of mine!). I did however think that the protagonist's mother was trotted out when it suited the story but then forgotten about. If you'd come all the way from New York, wouldn't you be going to see your mother in the nursing home almost every day while you were there, regardless of the emotional cost?
My only reservation is that I would have liked a little more spice.

Lisa Ireland came on the scene with a splash with Breaking The Drought and as far as I'm concerned she can do no wrong. Feels Like Home felt so real to me. I'm a country Aussie girl originally and Ireland's characters and the story's conflicts felt so, so real. I was there every step of the way and I've re-read the book twice now. It looks like it's going to be a long-term comfort read. I'd recommend this one for anyone who likes the bush written real, their characters even realer and who doesn't mind putting a book down at the end, while wearing a big smile:)

Jo returns to her old home to be bridesmaid for her best friend, but runs into her old flame she moved away from. Despite not wanting to, they find they are still attracted but of course the road is not smooth. Nice tale of old love revisited.

I loved this book. Once started I couldn't put it down. The small town dynamics, the friendships and family warmth all made this a heartwarming story.
