Product Description

Shortstop Tate James has been traded from the all-American town of Milwaukee to the trendy City of Angels.

Pink hair, manscaping, dogs in purses... not his thing. This ball player is less than excited about his new hometown. That is until he crosses paths with beautiful Mia Tomko. She lets him know that not all L.A. women are just after fame and fortune.

As Tate and Mia find that their interest in each other isn't the only thing they have in common, neither are prepared for what their future holds.

When someone from both of their pasts arrives, will it tear them apart or make them closer?

Lyssa has done it again; she's given me a new book BF and another girl crush.
Tate and Mia are perfect for each other, the path wasn't smooth but then it never is when Lyssa is involved.
Another amazing read from Lyssa

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Stand Alone novel! 28 February 2015

I picked this book up and was unable to put it down until I finished it! This is an amazing story of over coming your past, love, and finding your strength.

I fell in love with Mia and Tate’s characters and the chemistry they had between them. Their first meeting was something that definitely left an impression on each of them, and the next day when Tate finds out the mysterious woman from the bar is his new realtor he is besides himself.

I loved how their friendship grew throughout the beginning of the book, and their games of truth or dare. Even though they didn’t see much of each other, they always made time each day to talk to one another and get to know one another. Problem is, Mia is hiding something from Tate and is scared to death to tell him about it. When she gets the strength to tell him, she changes her mind once he says something to her regarding a similar situation.

As much as I loved Mia and Tate’s relationship and story, I wish Mia would have been more open with Tate. I think a lot of things would have been different if Mia would have explained what was going on with her ex. He is not a nice person, and I know she was trying to get away, but how Tate feels for her, I think he would have been with her every step of the way.

The ending of this book was amazing. It had me in tears and I was so happy to see there was an epilogue because I wasn’t sure if I could have handled how the last chapter ended. Tate and Mia’s love story is amazing and I really enjoyed this book. This was the first book of Lyssa Layne’s that I’ve read and I look forward to reading many more books from her! If you’re looking for a steamy stand alone that has an amazing story, definitely pick up Fear of Striking Out!

5.0 out of 5 stars NO fear of striking out with this book by Lyssa Layne! *pun intended* ;) 26 February 2015

Shortstop, Tate " Hunk-a -li-cious" ( I might have given him that middle name :) James has been traded from Milwaukee to L.A. He is not a happy camper, to say the least. That is, until he meets the lovely Mia. As soon as their eyes lock, it's like a magnetic pull. Tate begins to think that relocating may not be so horrible after all.

Buckle up and get ready for all the twists and turns their story takes you on. There are so many facets that I appreciated, and I thoroughly enjoyed the ride.

This book is a stand alone with no cliffy. *yay* Although, Grant and Colie from, The Right Pitch, who I adore, were woven in seamlessly. You certainly don't need to be a baseball fan in order to appreciate either of these books, so don't let that stop you. There is just the right amount of reference to it, while more importantly, focusing on the emotional journeys each character experiences. I absolutely loved the other supporting characters! Okay, maybe all but one, who I loathed, but he was instrumental to the plot. The only downside is that I wanted more! Knowing Lyssa Layne's writing, I'm sure I will see them again in her future books.

I give this book 5 baseballs, ummm, I mean 5 stars! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great continuation of this series! 15 January 2015

I was happy to get to read the continuation of Layne’s baseball books. I think this second book is even better than the first. Mia and Tate are a couple I really enjoyed reading. While Mia is running from a bad past and Tate should be focused on his position on the new team, there is something that keeps drawing them together. Even with the long distances that separate them at times, this slow burn romance makes you want things to work out for the pair.

One thing that impressed me the most was Mia and how strong she really was. Sure, she’d had a rough life and a past that is hard to handle, but she is a strong heroine and someone to admire. It was also nice to have Collie and Grant get in on some of the action in this book, like revisiting old friends. This author continues to improve and I enjoyed this story. (I received an ARC copy of this book for review)

5.0 out of 5 stars lyssa does it again 20 February 2015

Such an intense story Tate and Mia are strong willed and show that true love can concur all. From battles of being a single father and very wealthy baseball player, to finding the woman who can turn it all around this book will keep you reading and gasping for air at points. The end is phenomenal and lyssa really grabs you and sends you for a loop. Definitely worth reading more than once

Lyssa always has a way of making me want to read her entire book without stopping, and this one is no exception. The plot is unpredictable and riveting. This lovable couple proves that love is worth fighting for.
