About the Author
Artist, Writer, Dog Lover - http: //www.beydeckard.com
Canadian indie author Bey Deckard wanted to be many things when he grew up: veterinarian, vampire, paleontologist, crane operator, sniper, ophthalmologist, brain surgeon, marine biologist, lawyer, forensic anthropologist, set designer, underwater archaeologist, mortician, rock star, philanthropist... but writer was not on the list. Artist wasn't there either because he'd been drawing and paintings since he was a tot and figured that made him one already.
Freelance graphic design paid the bills while Bey levelled up with a BFA in Art History (minor in Anthro). However, he landed in the tech world where the degree was worth FA, and stayed there for over a decade before leaving, thoroughly sick of working for The Man. That's when the writing started, and Bey still can't believe it wasn't on that list above because he absolutely loves doing it and can't really imagine doing anything else.
Bey's books aren't quite romance and aren't quite erotica, and they jump from genre to genre, but they're all character driven and he likes to think they're interesting.
These days, if Bey's not writing or working on graphics, you'll find him posting pics of his best buddy and constant canine companion Murphy, cooking up some tasty vegetarian eats, hanging out on facebook, or sitting back to watch a movie with a drink (or many).
As a reader, Bey's usual staples are biographical works, medical research papers, all sorts of history books (nautical, medieval, and medical being his favourites), science fiction, fantasy, horror, KGB/CIA thrillers, and graphic novels.--This text refers to the paperback edition.

I just have to say that I’m overjoyed to discover that another novel will follow in this series. Though this book had a definite and strong plot, I found myself thinking that I wouldn’t care if these three pirates were just marooned on a desert island. If the book was about their relationship and their sexual encounters alone, I would still be crazy about it. In addition to being extremely hot, Fated includes flashbacks, dreams, and Baltsaros delirious thoughts while he suffers from mental illness. All of these pieces come together at perfect times and flow very nicely with the plot. I loved having a glimpse of how Baltsaros and Tom came together. Additionally, having a window into Baltsaros’s childhood and the horrors he lived through made it easier to sympathize with him. In the previous two books John had reservations when it came to Baltsaros’s nature, but in this book Baltsaros is redeemed.
Though there is still mistrust, jealousy and discord between the lovers, I felt like this novel brings them together with a more solid bond than they ever had before. Baltsaros realizes Tom’s true worth and John also gains confidence in their relationship. I’m so glad that this is not the end of the Baal’s Heart series and I can’t wait to read the next installment. I recommend this series to anyone who loves dark fantasy, m/m/m erotica and pirate adventures.

If someone asked me to describe the emotion of Baal's Heart in one word, that word would be Gobsmacked! On the surface, this is a story of Jon's self-discovery, coming of age amongst pirates but after a few chapters you realize that, yes it is a story of self-discovery but not only Jon's. He may be the newest member of the crew but Captain Baltsaros and First Mate Tom also learn and grow, not always forward but life is that way, three steps forward and two steps back.
I'm doing an overall series review because this is not a tale where you can read just one, Baal's Heart is a package deal and trust me, it's a package you won't want to return. Don't get me wrong, it is not all sunshine and roses, this is a tale of filled with darkness and grit but that does not mean there is no happiness and triumph because it is chock full of all of it. This is not for the faint-of-heart, much of the boys' journey may be hard to take, good and bad, but for me it was worth it.
Jon, Tom, and Baltsaros' relationship is more than just a ménage or threesome, it is a complicated, messy at times, unsure, but a relationship from the heart for sure. The sexy times are off the charts, the heat is just short of starting your Kindle or paperback ablaze. This journey is a tale of so much more than just sex and passion, there is plenty of drama, violence, piracy, backstabbing, underhandedness, but there is also lots of friendship, compassion, and plain heart. Bey Deckard is a new author for me but Baal's Heart will not be the only thing I'll be reading, can't wait to check out more of his work. I went searching for tales of pirates when the newest season of Starz' Black Sails began back in January, there may be more fantasy than history in this series, I was not disappointed and highly recommend this series to anyone who looks for an amazing story with unforgettable characters, history fan or not, don't let this one pass you by.
Indeed, the thought alone of putting pen to paper in an effort to convey my thoughts about any particular piece of brilliant writing scares the livin' crap outta me! I honestly don't know how reviewers do what they do. I'm in total awe of them!
Today's brilliant piece of writing? Bey Deckard's Fated. So, despite my inability to do any sort of justice to a proper review, please take my word for it and pickup book 3 of the Baal's Heart series! You'll be so damn glad you did!
I will look forward to this author's next book!!
