Good Book, we need fat, so you probably need this book?

I never stopped eating proper fat, thank goodness. Now I'm finding research such as this book contains, that confirms my own view that fat was never a problem. Almost all the slim people I meet eat saturated fat, most of the overweight people I meet, don't. Taking that further, as fat isn't the issue, nor is Cholesterol, therefore no-one needs statins (which earn big Pharma trillions annually), and which also frequently have side effects, particularly poor memory and muscle pain/damage. Do read this and other related books, you really need to know this stuff!

A book of significant importance - should be read - but reproduction flawed
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 March 2021Verified Purchase
This book provides insights into many aspects of human life and history: the effect of different diets; the impact of scurvy over the centuries; the conflict between authorities, dieticians, doctors and explorers on what a viable diet should be ; the history of the colonisation of Canada and the part played of the Hudson Bay Company, and much more, all couched in the language and perspectives of a former age, but which are remarkably relevant today ("Plus ca change . . .")
The highlights for me was the description of how peoples of the Artic managed to live healthy lives for thousands of years by hunting; how the successful explorers learnt from their ways; why Antarctic explorers Shackleton and Scott fell out and went separate ways and why Shackleton survived a catastrophic situation, much of his own making, and Scott and his expedition perished; learning of Steffanson's 2 year medically supervised experiments on an all meat diet, which showed the importance of fat in the diet - showing a level of scientific rigour and probity that many present researchers on diet could do well to follow.
So this book should be widely read . . . but not this edition. It is apparent that words are missing, some have been mis-transcribed from the original and some sections have been repeated. There is a certain intellectual 'fun' in trying to work out what should have been there. The original had paragraphs - This edition does not have paragraphs, or more exactly each chapter is one paragraph - This makes it difficult to read.
The only explanation for the catastrophic reproduction of the original text is that someone used an optical character reading application on images of the original, but had not bothered to proof read for the inevitable errors in some words; that they had lost track of which pages were being processed and so managed to duplicate sections; finally, the original had a shorter page width so the 'newlines' created in the optical character reading process meant that the reproduction would also have had short lines - so the newline characters had to be removed - ('newline' is replace with a 'space' ) - done badly this would also remove the 'newline' characters of the paragraphs . . hence one paragraph per chapter.
There are pdf facsimile copies of the book of the book online (which is how I discovered it does actually have paragraphs)

Excellent informative inspiring book, just goes to show that many nutritionist’s and dieticians haven’t got a clue about the health benefits of meat and fat in our diet.

I came across this book by chance while researching a carnivore diet. I will be recommending this book to my friends..

Paperback version very poor

The text is all jumbled up in many places - sections are repeated at random in the wrong place, making the book very hard to follow,. In addition, the book was not bound properly - pages are loose and fall out. Such a.shame as it is a great book and deserves better treatment.
