Sahara Silver is the female CEO of Body Armor, an elite bodyguarding agency. Recruiting highly-skilled MMA fighters, she’s turned her business into the go-to agency for celebrities in the spotlight. Keen to add Brand Berry to her stable of former MMA employees, he’s the one man who seems impervious to her wiles. Or rather, not in the least interested in working for her… only in her, personally.
When trouble comes for Sahara, Brand’s the one who is there for her, even more than her loyal employees. Building a relationship in the midst of disaster isn’t optimum conditions, but it can certainly make for a strong bond, and that’s what happens for this pair.
While (slight spoilers) Sahara gets kidnapped and into sticky situations several times, she’s definitely not a wilting female. Quite the opposite, and though on several situations she’s outmanned and outgunned, her plucky determination and resourcefulness had me rooting for her all along.
Unfortunately, Brand got a bit caveman at times for my taste. He and Sahara came to an agreement early on that she would be the boss when it came to ‘work’ situations and he would be in charge at other times, which would be perfectly fine - except that he constantly argued with and tried to overrule her in situations where she was clearly more experienced than he was. All ‘for her own good’, of course.
Being an alpha male is one thing. Being an alpha a-hole is something else, and I’m afraid Brand tipped over the line into the latter for me. So even though I loved Sahara and this was well-written and edited, I really can’t give it any more than three stars.
Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book for review through NetGalley.
This is the story in the series that I have been waiting for. There has been something about Sahara all along, and in the previous book we knew there was something afoot with Brand.
And now we know what it is.
One thing - it is called Fast Burn, but to me it was more a slow burn. Things just plodded along slowly for the first 50% of the book and then things really took off.
I adore Sahara's bossy, ball busting, take no prisoners attitude- not just at work but also in her private life. Go get 'em tiger!
There is great banter between Sahara and Brand, and also between Brand and the other fighters-come-bodyguards. It will keep you on your toes.
Fast Burn is sweet and sexy, full of suspense, and just the way this series needed to end.
But I am sad that is has ended :( Now I am impatiently awaiting what Ms Foster brings us next.
Otherwise, I loved Fast Burn and highly recommend it!

Sahara was an "oops" and one of her never mentioned, perhaps subconscious, goals was to never again be an afterthought and, for the most part, she succeeded. Since the time her parents left to travel the globe, it was Sahara and her brother taking on the world, until her brother disappeared, feared dead. Sahara, fearless and confident, oh yes and sexy (don't forget sexy) stepped in to run his 'bodyguard' business, Body Armour, in his stead. From the time Sahara took over, the focus was on the word 'body'. Sahara replaced the contemporary, conservative, traditional bodyguards with her own flavor, for their high profile clients. She had a taste for MMA fighters turned bodyguards and she hired the sexiest, strongest, most efficient fighters she could find. Now the focus was on finding her brother who Sahara believed was still alive, and secure MMA fighter Brand Berry for Body Armour....or was it for Sahara? Did she have an ulterior motive?
MMA fighter Brand Berry has his own priorities and they do include Sahara but not as his employer. This is a sensational romantic suspense that you will want to savor! 4.5 stars.
As always Ms. Foster did no disappoint. I could not put this book down. I eventually had to though but picked it up again the minute I could. I should now by now not to read this book during the week because work gets in the way.
Her characters are strong, sexy, protective, handsome, loyal and alpha men all the way and Brand is no exception. Sarah is strong, independent, a self proclaimed "shark" and she doesn't show weakness or fear. We learned more about each of these characters and it was sad when the book ended but only because it ended. I am always left wanting more. The characters quickly become like old friends and I want to get to know more about them and hear from the characters who have had their stories told.
I am always left wanting more and that to me is the sign of a great book. Ms. Foster does that and I will continue to read her books.
Not even halfway through the book, I was in tears. Happy tears. I was hugging my Kindle and thanking Lori for being such an amazing writer. She has provided me with these books, that allow me to escape from the crappiness of life, even for just a few hours.
From the minute after I finished my very first Lori Foster book, Perfect Storm, I have been helplessly hooked. Lori has never failed to write a book that was filled with hope, action, humor, love; and who could forget the sexy alpha men who take no greater pleasure than in taking care of their women. In my opinion, nothing can beat that.
I don't feel the need to tell you about the characters all that much. All you need to know is that they were perfectly imperfect, just as they should be. The blurb will tell you the rest.
Obviously, I highly recommend this and ALL of Lori Foster's books.

P.S. In case I didn't make it clear, I have happily and voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book.
This book was a lot of fun. Sahara Silver has decided that bodyguards should be sexy, so she has hired several ex-MMA fighters. She wants Brand Berry for her “stable” of elite bodyguards, with ability and sex appeal, but he resists. He wants a more personal relationship with Sahara, so he refuses to work for her.
Sahara’s older brother, Scott, has been declared dead in a boating accident. She believes him alive and is searching for him. In this book, other people appear who think he may be alive but, dead or alive, he owes them money and they decide to get it from Sahara. That puts her at risk and prompts Brand’s protectiveness. Being forced to spend time together results in some hot scenes!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader copy of this book.
