To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
In a reversal of use, the kindle is a great dictionary with this app, so easy to find meaning of words you don't know, when your reading a traditional book (paperback and hardback) not in digital form.
And I'm guessing just as easy when reading books on a kindle, but for now it is just what I wanted. Highly recommended and so easy to use, quick, reliable. And remembers the words you search in a list, so you can always go back and see those words you have trouble understanding.
And all this is in the free version, not even sure what the pro version does, as for now I don't need it.
We chose this version of a dictionary after a not very good experience with "A-B-C" which we have now deleted. So far the Farlex version is much better and we look forward to many years of happy usage. We were also given access to a Thesaurus plus alternative language spellings of the word we are looking into. These other features means we now have a great information source all within one app and hence can completely research any word we are looking into.
After downloading the app, you have to download every dictionary you want. The foreign ones are only available with the Pro edition which wasn't made clear beforehand. A lot of English words aren't available in English edition. Don't know why not. Possibly over-Americanised?
I finally found the meaning of some scrabble words that my dictionary doesn't stretch to. This effectively underscores how good the Farlex dictionary really is. Besides being a good dictionary, there are links to outside sources of information on the internet, plus some simple word games to really get your brain working.
