Really really enjoyed this compilation. I want to be able to do each author justice with the review so hopefully this brief summary of each book helps.
Sweet, Sweet Savannah - Still Water Pub | Book 1 Author: HL Nighbor
Couldn't help but enjoy this book. With an instant connection followed by separation its been hard for Savannah. With Mac now in the picture she has more to consider than just herself. I loved that Savannah was friends with her male colleagues without feeling any romantic connection - this made it all the more sweeter when the 3 guys from her past (Bas, Finn and Austin) entered her life again. I was happy they took their time getting to know each other better before deciding to progress their relationship, with the story progressing across many weeks. Would love to read more about them and how they settled into life with each other.
Author: Amanda Perry
Very well written. Loved the background and multiple underlying storylines - the build up for their relationship and the family dynamic was expertly done. I would love to read more about Parker and the guys now that they've decided to progress their relationship. Oh and Austyn - can't help but love him. I can definitely see some offshoots coming off this book (Maverick and his crew). Will definitely be following this author.
Literary Yours - A Southern Soil Book
Author: L.A. Boruff
This was very much a Cinderella story. Father dies, evil stepmother and step-siblings try to take over the family company and block Ellie out of her family's legacy. Cue legal battle and 3 gorgeous lawyers who run the firm but aren't on her case. It was a sweet story but it really wasnt RH - she dated all 3 of them separately and only on the last page did they decide to make it formal and have her as GF to all 3 of them - explaining their upbringing at the same time. I feel this is only the start of the story and much more is needed - such as how their relationship goes and what happens with the legal battle. I hope this author releases more in this series to close these key items out.
Preservation - In the Time of Ruin, Book 1
Author: LA Kirk
This book is set in a dystopian future where food and resources are scarce, and the population is more female than male. Bailey and her 3 best friends are about to graduate and have to come to terms with how they feel for each other - especially when its 3 guys and 1 girl in a world where it should be the opposite. The book is short and finishes with them only just agreeing to enter into the RH relationship. I definitely want more and hope that Kirk continues the series.
Tied by Fate - A Thread Reader Book
Author: Lyn Forester
With will-o-wisps, sirens and the Thread Readers, this was a refreshing story to have in this compilation. Siobhan has been separated from Jameson, Hughe and Davin for 9 years after they went to live with their aunt shortly after finding out they were at the end of each other's threads. Now they're back and Siobhan is angry and trying not to fall back into the relationship they had in the past for fear of getting hurt. It was very well written and the supernatural undertone subtly done. I want to know how things turn out for them, but also want to know what happens with Hamilton (I know there is a big secret there) and also Caira and Braden.
Draken Genesis - Draken United Prequel
Author: K Swanson
For this book we delve into a set of worlds where Gods and magic exist. The God of Fate has fathered 3 children against the laws of the Gods. As they grow and lose their mother, he seeks out Rhea and tasks her with watching them as they grow given he is forbidden from doing so himself. Half-Gods, Eric, James and Adrian possess magic which is forbidden. At the point in their life where their magic abilities are discovered, Rhea is transported to their world to help them. Despite their initial mistrusts they grow closer and decide that the 3 of them want to court her - if they can survive their escape and subsequent mission that is. This book was well written and drew me in completely - I definitely need more in this series.
Hidden Light - The Lydents’ Curse
Author: Nikki Bolvair
Magic exists in the world - something that Carly was never aware of despite it being revealed she grew up with a Lydent stepfather and stepbrothers (Lydent = person who has magic). Thrust into the world by chance, and being one of only 4 female Lydents in the state, Carly must quickly learn the ins and outs of the world if she is to survive - especially against all of the potential suitors. Mates are rare, but found by having matching marks. Carly has always had a crush on her stepbrothers (Zander and Hale) and their friends (Baxter and Colton). Now that she is one of them, she's hoping that their marks match. This was the first book in the volume that had me in tears as I went through what Carly was going through - it was so very well written and I definitely want more in this series.
